And for the record, this isn’t the first Tecno Spark Go. The first had an iPhone 14 look.
Tecno announces the Spark Go 1 with an updated design. Despite the name, this is not the first Spark Go. It’s going to add confusion to customers who aren’t aware. We can theorize why it was named this way. See, the original Spark Go was actually a rebranded Tecno Pop 8. You can even find this name on some benchmarks, such as AnTuTu. Thus, it’s not a “true” Spark Go device. Now, that phone has seen success in developing markets that Tecno made it an official lineup in itself, thus, the Spark Go 1 was born. For all intents and purposes of this article, we’re going to refer to the original Spark Go as the Tecno Pop 8.

If you can find a pattern here, the Tecno Pop 8 came with an iPhone 14-like back. Now, the Spark Go 1 uses the same pattern for the rear camera island, albeit resembling more of earlier iPhones, such as the iPhone 13. It’s probably a conscious choice. It makes the phone look more premium than what it is priced for.
The Spark Go 1 is a modest budget phone. Despite this, it is busted. It comes with a tall 6.67″ HD+ (1600x720px) IPS LCD with 120Hz refresh rate! Yep, you read that right. In addition, it comes with a UNISOC T615 chipset, a strong improvement over the T606 the Pop 8 used.
There are two cameras here, and we’re not counting the unknown auxiliary sensor. The back features a 13MP primary camera while the selfie sensor is 8MP. It is a punch hole. Thankfully, this design is very common now, even to the budget end. The phone has a dual SIM Card slot, 4G LTE connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and IP54 protection, in case it gets splashed on by raindrops.
Finally, the phone is powered by a 5000mAh battery with 15W fast charging. Still 5W more over the Pop 8, which is a good thing. It appears that the phone kept the stereo speakers with DTS that the Pop 8 have, which is its main feature.
The phone comes in two colours. Glittery White and Startrail Black.
There is no pricing yet. Yes, the phone runs on regular Android 14 with HiOS on top. The phone comes in two options: 3/64 or 4/128, just like the Pop 8. We’ll let you know if the phone does arrive in the Philippines, and we’re betting this is highly likely.
