ICYMI: Sony Brings the WH-1000XM6 to the Philippines with Improved ANC and MORE BALANCED Frequencies!

Ya know what? This is actually one of the best headsets you can buy right now! And it’s not that expensive.

The WH-1000XM5 was praised for being a top-notch headset with good balance of sound, detail, and noise cancelling. However, of course, like every product, improvements can be done, and Sony outdid themselves with the Mark VI. Yes, we just learned that’s what the “M” stands for in the name and Sony calls it the 1000X series. It’s all thanks to the “For the Music” debut event that happened a few days back.

“For the Music” Event!

The event is less of an event and more like a free concert. Not that we’re complaining, it’s actually quite appropriate and quite fun at the same time. It featured multiple artists such as Lola Amour, Syd Hartha, and Barbie Almabis. We’re all about the good vibes and listening to these people sing and perform is definitely good vibes.

During the event, there were several activities, including stickers to customize your Mark VI, a gacha machine which you can win goodies if you’re lucky, a quiz that tests your knowledge about the new 1000XM6, and of course, testing out the new headset to pre-selected music through the tablets provided, and these tablets run Spotify too! Most of them OPM, but some are JPOP or KPOP.

Those who joined can win a Sony TWS earbuds and other exciting stuff.

The Headset Itself:

The WH-1000XM6 is a massive improvement from the Mark V, with noticeable changes to its noise cancellation performance, frequencies, and a larger driver. Also, the headphones are tuned in collaboration with music experts around the world, some of them include Sterling Sound, Coast Mastering, and Battery Studios.

The WH-1000XM6 has twelve microphones, which is nearly twice as much as the XM5. As always, support for Hi-Res Audio remains a top priority. Not to mention, its ANC adapts even faster than the previous headset which has a split-second delay. When we tested a demo unit and connected it to our phone, there was no delay when the music started streaming. The headset also has Qualcomm aptX support and is LDAC-certified so all the detail you can hear can be heard clearly, especially the soft-sounding trebles and basses.

Sony has also introduced a companion app for the headset called “Sound Connect”. This allows you to control the headset and change ambiance, as well as see battery status. Do note you need to create a Sony account for it to work. There are a few scene modes too which allows the headset to adapt to different environment, especially when you’re at a park and you’re running.

The noise-cancellation feature is further improved through the use of the custom Sony QN3 Noise Processor which the headset uses to adapt to the environment and filter out noise as required. The WH-1000XM6 also has a stronger and wider headband infused with vegan leather, and softer earmuffs that sit comfortably through your ears no matter how big or small they are. In our demo experience, it was fitting quite nicely, and we didn’t even feel it was there.

Sony also boasted how the headphones can fold easily thanks to a new “advanced metal injection”, allowing you to bring your headset anywhere minus the bulkiness.

PRICE:

The WH-1000XM6 is available now on Sony concept stores, as well as Lazada and other partner retailers for a surprisingly sufficient PHP 27,999 price! We honestly expected it to be more expensive than that. A price below 30K is quite generous.

It comes in Silver, Midnight Blue, and Black. Our recommended choice is Midnight Blue due to how it is unique among tech gadgets and headphones. Black and Silver are pretty common and the latter gets dirty quite easily. So, go buy the Midnight Blue if you can catch it.
