Honor has been on a hot streak since their long-awaited return. The brand has launched various events for its fans, collaborated with several known local music artists, and even the global brand went out of its way to collab with the renowned Harcourt Studio for assistance in its Honor 200 series! In terms of growth, that is extraordinarily fast! It is currently also one of the most popular brands in the UK.
On September 9, just in time for the Megasale monthly event, the brand will launch a new budget phone called the X6b. This was teased first in the Philippines through an exclusive fan event in Subic. Some of our colleagues got a hand of it, too!
We applaud Honor because they are one of the few brands that still have original-looking phones and does not join the bandwagon. If you see those circular camera islands now, it’s Huawei (then Honor) that popularized this design. The X6b looks mundane at the front, with a big chin and a waterdrop notch but the back is a classic design.
As expected from a budget phone like it, you get the basics. A large 5200mAh battery so that it lasts an entire day (and bonus, 35W fast charging), a 5MP selfie camera, storage just large enough to store music, some movies and music, and basic apps like Facebook, Messenger, and Google Workspace. As with many budget phones, it has a high 90Hz refresh rate. It boasts the so-called dynamic display which by the way, they did first, on the V20. That was when before Honor got barred off trading with the United States and its allies because it was under Huawei.
While the camera specifications may not be that impressive, a 50MP+2MP setup, Honor’s software and post-processing is one of the better ones we’ve seen. So that compensates for it.
As for the chipset, it’s the ageing MediaTek Helio G85. Keep in mind, this was a brand that frequently used the Helio G88 which offers better performance.
The phone comes in three colours: the classic Midnight Black, then Starry Purple and Forest Green. During the 9.9 sale, it will be available at a huge mark down, from PHP 6,999 to just PHP 5,399. That’s a huge reduction in price. Though, this discount only applies if you directly buy the phone at Honor’s Shopee store with the appropriate vouchers.
By the way, stay awake by 12 midnight because you can get the phone for exactly PHP1 on the day it debuts! Only one would be sold so be fast!
