Itel has announced new ultrabudget phone for Filipino users called the Itel A50C. It is your usual ultrabudget phone with a design resembling that of the Camon 30 series from Tecno and the Spark Go 1, which in turn, resembles the iPhone 13. As Transsion’s budget brand, this is expected of them.

Its main features are not actually “main” features but instead, they are supposed to be integral. USB-C being listed as a feature mean there’s nothing much to see about this handset. It has characteristics you expect from this range. Mainly, the 6.6″ HD+ 90Hz LCD screen, a weak but efficient processor (UNISOC T603, 12nm), two “just enough” camera modules, consisting of an 8MP rear and a 5MP front (there is no secondary camera, the hole at the bottom right corner is just a display), a 5000mAh battery with 10W charging, and the fingerprint sensor with face unlock. It also has a waterdrop notch. Nothing of significance to see here.

The good news, it’s pretty cheap, like, dirt cheap at PHP 3,099. Bad news, it only comes with 2GB LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB eMMC 5.1 ROM. In spite of the lack of storage, the phone still has an extra 2GB reserved for virtual RAM, totaling to a theoretical 4GB RAM. In consequence, the phone runs a lighter version of Android still with ItelOS on top.

If they actually made it 3/64 instead of 2/32 at this price range, then it would have made a killing and gives that “wow” factor.

The phone is made of plastic. It comes in Sapphire Black, Dawn Blue, and Misty Aqua. You can get it via Shopee. While it lacks everything a young consumer wants on a smartphone, such as decent cameras and fast performance, it is more than enough as a gift for the older non-literate individuals, so make it a gift.
