The realme GT6 Will Be Available in the Philippines in June 20!

Something tells us the price isn’t going to be right… Just our intuition though

Tomorrow, realme will launch their most anticipated device of the year in the Philippines. That’s right, it’s the realme GT6! On realme Philippines’ website, the realme Bud Air6 is also showcased and will launch alongside the gaming phone.

It has been released in China for quite some time. The phone is a near perfect rebadge of the GT6 Neo released locally. However, it is not a carbon copy, instead of a second LED flash, there is a third camera in place.

To cut the story short, it has been five generations (excluding the GT Master series) since the GT series made its official global release, as the brand is focusing more on its number and C-series, more often than not, because they are aimed at a more casual audience while the GT series was created to counter POCO’s F and Redmi’s K series.

The phone has a listed (though most likely temporary) price on Lazada, at a whoppingly expensive PHP 38,498 tag as of June 19, 2024, the time of this writing. If this is the final price then realme is setting itself up for failure as its competitor, the POCO F6 Pro is up for PHP 32,999 with 12GB RAM and 1TB ROM.

The realme GT6 is a gaming phone, a dedicated one. The brand has been tipping the phone for quite sometime now and all we got to hear now is the price. A company only has one chance to make it, or they’ll break it. realme, being under BBK Electronics, somehow worries us because BBK can be somewhat finicky when it comes to pricing.

Of course, during its live event, mentions about AI is expected. It is the current trend for many tech brands and to some, it has lost its meaning and became a marketing byword.

The realme GT6 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6.78″ curved 120Hz OLED display with 1.5K resolution (2780x1264px), a 50MP Primary camera with PDAF and OIS (Sony Lytia LYT-808), an 8MP Ultrawide, and what appears to be a 50MP Telephoto camera. Are… are brands finally learning? Are they finally ditching the 2MP cameras no one ever liked? As for your selfies, the phone comes equipped with a traditional 32MP camera that Oppo has been using for quite sometime now.

Ever since that ridiculously expensive price popped on Lazada, some of our colleagues expressed doubts while others defended realme saying it is not the final price and that is just a placeholder. If it can compete directly with the POCO F6 Pro, then the competition will shake and become very interesting. We just have to look forward what realme has to offer. We are confident they can deliver a great phone tailored with great specs at a price that won’t break the bank. The flagship killer series is back and we’re hoping it’s going to be permanent this time.

Stay tuned on realme PH’s Facebook page to see the realme GT6 live! It comes in a Green or Silver colour based on its Lazada listing and with 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM.
