The realme12 Plus was Launched With a Luxury Watch Design

It’s inspired from the GT Master series wherein the brand showcases its unique design choices. It also features similar specs and pricing.

The Portrait Master meets the Portrait Expert! The realme 12 series is bound to compete with its parent company, Oppo with the portrait camera race. In the Philippines, there are two of these phones released. The first is the realme 12 Plus and then the other is the 12 Pro Plus. If you have followed the brand religiously, you’ll find that they don’t release all the numeric phones at once. Instead, realme prefers to launch it every few months starting first with the greatest ones in the line followed by the more budget-friendly ones.

Given how realme partners up with several known people for their “master” design, the realme 12 series may be succeeding the GT Master series in which they craft the most unique designs they could think of in the market. In the case of the realme 12 Plus, the brand reached out to Olliver Saveo, a luxury watch designer.

We’ll begin with the realme 12 Plus. The realme12 Pro Plus deserves its own article.

realme 12 Plus:

Claudio Miranda, Award-Winning Director

We didn’t get invited to the event, nor did we have the phones in hand but we do know both the realme 12+ and the Pro Plus are great handsets on their own right. It seems like everyone loves what Huawei is doing with their camera layout. That circular camera island must be efficient for large sensors, or at least, appearing large to the public as even the previous phone uses the same kind of array. The brand calls this design as “Luxury Watch”. No, sadly, the rumors aren’t true, a Rolex partnership is not in the works.

The realme 12+ sports a 50MP Sony Lytia LYT-600 midrange camera with OIS alongside the usual 8MP ultrawide and 2MP 4cm macro. The front is a 16MP sensor. We discussed this one first as the series is camera-centric. To prove its worth, realme partnered with Academy Award-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda who you may know directed Life of Pi and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, known as the world’s first digitally-filmed piece of film.

The OLED display used here has 120Hz refresh rate. It is a flat 6.67″ panel with FullHD+ (2400x1080px) resolution. It also has HDR10+ and 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate.

For performance, the phone uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip. Yes, this same chip found on the realme11 Pro. This chip has been used since the realme10 series days and only has marginally improved since the realme9 Pro Plus. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” is the mentality we’re getting here. The phone comes with two variations: 8/256 or 12/256.

In addition to the chip, the phone features a large 7-layer 4357mm2 cooling system. In other areas, it comes with the typical things you’d expect from a phone of its range. Namely the in-display fingerprint sensor, 5G services, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2. The phone boots up with realmeUI 5 based on Android 14.

The realme12 Plus starts at PHP 17,999 (8/256) and PHP 19,999 (12/256) respectively. Also, you can get several TechLife Freebies for a limited time if you purchase in one of their concept stores nationwide. Can’t pay in full but want the phone desperately? You can pay via Home Credit with 0% interest, just like every girl in your area. However, do note terms and conditions apply and you might be paying more than the stated SRP if you intend to purchase this way.

There are two colours to choose from: Pioneer Green and Navigator Beige. The latter succeeds from the realme 11 Pro Plus’ Sunrise Beige.
