Sadly, the 200MP camera is gone. However, that means you get access to a periscope telephoto camera!
Previously, we discussed the realme 12 Plus 5G, the phone that everyone somehow managed to review over the more professional 12 Pro Plus. Just like the previous handset in the series, the realme 12 Pro Plus showcases how unique realme can design its smartphones, making them appear luxurious. Not only that but the leather-based material continues.
realme apparently likes the Huawei-like camera island but they added a neat little “twist” by calling it a Luxury Watch design and has come so far to hire Ollivier Saveo to help craft its overall design, giving it a legitimate “luxury watch” feel.
While realme ditched out the 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 camera, in its place, is the Sony IMX890 which is not a bad compromise. The resulting photos may even look better on this than the previous as Sony’s cameras have a lower tendency to oversharpen images.
Alongside this 50MP camera, the phone comes with a 64MP Omnivision OV64B Telephoto camera which is the main highlight. They even mention this first in their spec sheet over the Sony IMX890 primary. These two are fighting for popularity while the 8MP ultrawide feels like a loner here. It’s like that one kid in class that is always out of place.
At the front is a Sony IMX615 selfie sensor with 32MP resolution. This sensor was previously used as a primary in some smartphone models.
Just like the realme 12 Plus, the 12 Pro Plus’ AMOLED is flat, has FullHD+ (2412x1080px) resolution, and a 6.7″ size. Moreover, it has 2160Hz PWM Dimming so it’s even easier on the eyes. Touch Sampling Rate is 240Hz.
As for the chipset, you’re getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 inside. Not quite flagship but it will do. If you’re coming from a flagship like the realme GT5 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, you’ll notice the slight delays in terms of input. The phone has 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, just like the realme11 Pro Plus.
It comes with the same battery and charging rate as the realme 12 Plus, namely 5000mAh at 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. It’s slower than the realme 11 Pro Plus with its 100W fast charging. We’re not entirely sure why realme downgraded the rating so much.
The realme12 Pro Plus is priced at PHP 25,999 and like the realme12 Plus, you can get exclusive TechLife freebies for a limited time so as long you purchase from realme’s concept stores. It comes in Submarine Blue and Navigator Beige, the latter of which is shared with the realme 12 Plus.
