Vivo’s X-series flagships too expensive? No fret! You can experience Zeiss down to the midrange!
vivo has been sending us a lot of press releases, mostly teasing us the new V30 series. We are much more excited about this one because it brought ZEISS down to the midrange which usually is only offered at ultra flagship ranges. Another strikingly bold move for the company. Not to mention, the redesigned aura ring light which they innovated, now others are copying (looking at you, Transsion).
The phone is technically a modified vivo S18 which is China-only. It still sparks a lot of differences, most notably the absence of ZEISS on the S-series. Its overall design is the same if not identical. The S18 shares its display, battery size, and charging rates with the global V30 series. There are four colours here namely Bloom White, Waving Aqua, Lush Green, and Noble Black.
The main feature of the phone is its quadruple 50MP camera system. Yes, all four are completely functional and they all sport 50MP resolution from the wide to the front. For the V30 Pro, this consists of the Sony IMX920 wide, Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultrawide, and Sony IMX816 telephoto. Only the wide and telephoto feature OIS. As a phone with Zeiss T* coating, the German optics company has also brought along its nice and handy professional features such as Natural Color, Zeiss-Style Portrait, and a specially made watermark.
As a phone launching worldwide, it uses FunTouchOS 14 based on Android 14. Chinese users get OriginOS instead which frankly sounds like a cooler name than FunTouch. It has a 5000mAh battery inside alongside 80W fast charging.
As for the performance area, the phone has an even better processor than the V29. The V30 Pro features the return of the Dimensity 8200 last seen on the V27 Pro. It comes with 8 or 12GB RAM and either 256 or 512GB storage options. The phone also has a dual-speaker system with Hi-Res Audio. Sadly, you will not find a headphone jack here.
Finally, there’s the display. It’s a 6.78″ 1.5K (2800x1260px) AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate with HDR10+ support for video content and 2800nits peak brightness. It’s also flat so you won’t have issues if you want to install a tempered glass on top.
No price yet but guessing from the V29’s pricing, it should be around 34,999 to 39,999. That ZEISS License isn’t cheap to get.
