ICYMI: The OPPO Find X7 Ultra Comes with Two Periscope Cameras! The First in the World.

Oppo pulled all the stops to truly define the word “ULTRA”.

The Find series is Oppo’s flagship line and the X series really never made its way here. The Find X5 was initially slated for release in the Philippines but ultimately got cancelled. Now, the flagship line, much like Vivo’s NEX or X series, has been reduced to just China and select regions in Europe. Still, the series has its merits as the line, especially the ULTRA subseries, is where Oppo is pulling all the stops and the epitome of what they stand for.

Here comes the Find X7 Ultra, a flagship phone that’s unique among others for having two telephoto cameras and the first to have the 1-inch Sony Lytia LYT-900 sensor. Of course, let’s not forget the tuning done by Swedish optics maker Hasselblad.

According to company press release, the HyperTone engine, the neat little gimmick they have for this phone, makes images look the most natural they can be without sacrificing quality. The telephoto cameras have a focal length between 14mm to 270mm. All four cameras have 50MP resolution. The ultrawide camera is the LYT-600 with a 1/1.95″ sensor size and 14mm focal length making it a great choice to shoot macro portrait shots, as close as 4cm. One of the periscope cameras with 3x optical zoom and 65mm focal length is the Sony IMX890. The other periscope is a Sony IMX858 sensor with 6x optical zoom and large 1/2.51″ sensor size. It also has an equivalent 135mm focal length.

The manual mode on this phone has been finetuned and refined by Hasselblad, called Hasselblad Master. Aside from the usual manual controls like ISO, Shutter Speed, and White Balance, the modified manual mode also features to change sharpness, contrast, vignette, and saturation. The device also offers Zero Shutter Lag (ZSL) that is quite useful when taking moving images. In addition, RAW is supported and 16-bit RAW MAX mode is coming via software update.

Now, it would be a waste if these beautiful shots can only be viewed with a mediocre display. Hence why the Oppo Find X7 Ultra features a 6.82″ QHD+ (3200x1440px) LTPO OLED display with up to 1600nits brightness and an even brighter, probably the brightest in the industry, 4500nits when viewing HDR content. It also has variable aperture ranging from 1-120Hz. In addition, it features “ProXDR” which was also featured in the Reno10 Pro Plus we have reviewed months ago. This is Oppo’s take on UltraHDR format and frankly only applies on their smartphones.

Inside is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, if that is not super obvious. It comes with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 internal storage. In terms of its battery, the phone is equipped with a typical 5000mAh battery and 100W SuperVOOC fast charging which charges the phone to full “in less than 30 minutes”, as per company claims.

The phone takes it design from the Find X6 Ultra and comes with similar colours too, particularly the brown one (called Sepia Brown) here. The other two colours are Ocean Blue and Tailored Black. All three use vegan leather backs. The pink/rose gold colour is reserved for Chinese users.
