MediaTek Announces the Dimensity 8300. To Debut on the Redmi K70e

Even their midrange chipsets are nearly as powerful as their flagships! It also even includes Generative AI

Right after the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 was announced and released, the company launched a slightly toned down variant, the Dimensity 8300, being, of course, the successor to the popular Dimensity 8200.

Its main feature is Generative AI technology and significant performance upgrades. The chipset is manufactured using the same 4nm TSMC process as the flagship Dimensity 9300. Its cores are arranged in the ArmV9 architecture opposed to the “all big core” philosophy the Dimensity 9300 has. There is a single Cortex-A715 Prime Core clocked at 3.35GHz, three Cortex-A715 Big Cores clocked at 3GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency/little cores clocked at 2.2GHz. With these improvements, MediaTek says the chipset gains 20% CPU performance and 30% peak efficiency gains versus the Dimensity 8200.

It also uses the Arm Mali-G615 GPU which MediaTek claims to significantly improve performance by 60% and 55% power efficiency compared to its predecessor.

The Generative AI technology is made possible thanks to the new APU 780. This makes the Dimensity 8300 the first chip in the 8000 series to support this technology and we’re very positive that its successors will follow suit.

In terms of the usual specs, the chipset supports up to 120Hz WQHD+ displays or 180Hz FullHD+ display, “true-to-life” 4K60 HDR videography, and up to 5.17Gbps 5G download speeds. Not just that, it also natively supports HDR10+ so when you’re watching movies or doing artistic tasks, each colour pops and is as accurate as it is in real life.

Xiaomi confirms that the Redmi K70E will be using this chipset. The device has no release date yet but it is teased on Weibo. There are good chances that the phone will be released globally under POCO.
