Comes with the same square-ish design, aura ring light, and selfie camera at the cost of the primary camera (also *ughh* the Snapdragon 695 chipset).
Nearly two weeks ago, Vivo revealed the V29e 5G, a scaled-down variant of the popular Vivo V29 which takes portrait shots and selfies to the next level with its ring LED light, taken directly from the Vivo V27 series. The phone retained many of those merits with just a few features reduced or removed.
The Vivo V29e features a flat 120Hz AMOLED screen with a 91.99% screen-to-body ratio. The phone also features an IP54 rating so splashes won’t hurt it one bit. The resolution is slightly scaled down to just FullHD+ (2400x1080px) instead of 1.2K as the Vivo V29.
Up next is the 64MP Primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide. This is where we first see the scaled-down features of the phone. If you can recall, the Vivo V29 features a 50MP Sony IMX766 flagship camera with OIS. The 64MP has none of the features present there. Although it has a higher resolution, the sensor is smaller and therefore would consume light less. The selfie camera is thankfully retained, using the same 50MP resolution, as well as the ring LED light which creates decent and realistic bokeh/portrait effects.
Another sign of Vivo scaling down comes to the phone’s performance. Instead of a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G (and an even more powerful chip with the Vivo V27) and 12GB RAM, the Vivo V29e uses the very popular, if not overused, Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
There is a 4800mAh battery with 44W fast charging through its USB-C 2.0 port. The phone features an in-display fingerprint reader, 5G services, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.1. It runs FunTouchOS 13 based on Android 13. We hope to see the phone in our hands one day so we can see how well the phone performs in reality. The juicy ring light is also pretty interesting.
It comes in Forest Black and Ice Blue. Price is PHP 18,999 (12/256) and is available in all Vivo concept stores nationwide, partner retailers, and online such as TikTok, Lazada, and Shopee.
