Sounds like a rehash of the Reno 8T but ok.
Aside from our review unit, the Oppo A58, the company has also brought the A98 to the Philippines. Based on its spec sheet, the phone is similar to the Reno 8T, utilizing a similar chipset and same 40x microscope macro camera.
The Oppo A98 5G uses a 6.72″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) LTPS LCD screen. According to our press release, the phone has an “Always-On Display” despite it not using an AMOLED panel. The phone also has a 120Hz refresh rate.
Powering this midrange phone is the very popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM. Both of these are expandable through the MicroSD Card Slot and Virtual RAM feature.
The main highlights of the phone are its cameras. The primary camera uses a 64MP sensor and the other two are decorations. The phone also utilizes a 32MP selfie camera.
Finally, the phone has facial recognition, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and 5G services. It uses a 5000mAh battery with a very fast 67W fast charger. Oppo’s Battery Health engine is also present which helps you prevent battery degradation and can act as a companion whenever you’re not charging it. The phone has been tested to last roughly 4 years after 1,600 charging cycles.
The phone follows the “Oppo Glow” design language and features the same glossy highlighting found behind the camera modules. It comes in Dreamy Blue and Cool Black colour options. The phone is now available online and in Oppo’s authorized concept stores as well as third-party retailers nationwide.
