The HONOR 90 5G has Launched in the Philippines! Comes with a 50MP Front Camera that can Record in 4K

Recording in 4K using the front camera is not all phones, including some flagships, have these days.

Yesterday, August 15th, HONOR launched their newest midrange phone focused on luxury and camera performance, the Honor 90. It has so much emphasis on cameras, that the primary sensor has been given 200MP resolution and the front has 50MP, all while BOTH can create 4K videos! That is already pretty exciting in itself. The phone has aluminum frames and at least for the Emerald Green colour, a matte-coated finish.

The phone has a 6.7″ curved OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Though, it can go as low as 40 depending on your settings. This display is not ordinary. It has 3840Hz PWM Dimming so it’s easy on your eyes and also, there are fewer and fewer black bars when you record it. An example of this Hi-Frequency Dimming at work is seen above. See how there are little to no black bars to the phone on the right? We also illuminated them with lamps so that when we recorded them, they contrasted.

Another feature that Honor is bragging about here is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, but it’s overclocked and here, it is called the “Accelerated Edition”. The phone also has a vapour chamber cooling plate inside so that for long hours, the phone just doesn’t combust.

This part is probably the most exciting! The triple-camera system. Well, there are only two if you exclude the 2MP depth sensor, and three if you include the selfie camera. The rear consists of a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 primary, a 12MP Ultrawide, and of course, the “beloved” 2MP depth sensor. The front is a high-res 50MP camera. None of these cameras have OIS but they do have EIS. We won’t spoil you here about how this EIS is the best one we have tested so far.

It comes with a 5000mAh battery with a 66W Honor SuperCharge fast charging tech. The box includes the 66W USB-C brick and cable and Honor claims it can charge an empty battery to full in about an hour. We’ll be running our own test to determine that.

In terms of connectivity, the Honor 90 is the first phone from Honor that has E-SIM support, which is, at the moment, only reserved for specific flagship phones. Other connectivity options include 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6/6e, It also has a USB-C port and a single bottom-firing speaker. E-SIM is an alternate form of SIM Card where your SIM Number is saved digitally in your phone. It works identically like a physical SIM but does not use a SIM Slot as the number is completely virtual.

The Honor 90 costs PHP 24,990 and, get this, it comes with 12GB RAM + 512 GB STORAGE which makes the phone quite valuable because you will only get up to 256GB on other phones. Though, this rather large storage is a necessity because 200MP shots consume a lot of space. Aside from the Emerald Green that we have, the Honor 90 also comes in Diamond Silver which has a textured back with diamond lining, hence the name, and Midnight Black, a staple colour of Honor.

The phone is available for pre-ordering until August 25. When you do, you also get a FREE JBL Flip 6 Bluetooth speaker worth PHP 7,499. The phone is available to all Honor concept stores nationwide as well as Lazada and third-party retailers.
