It’s a flagship that isn’t a flagship!
Some of you techies may have purchased the Lite version, the CE3 Lite. However, the Nord series isn’t a filler series. The original Nord wasn’t meant to be one anyway. This tradition continues with the main line, and here is the third iteration of the Nord.
Boasting specs that would match that of flagships, the phone is essentially a more affordable alternative to the number series. For instance, the display is 6.7in. 1.5K 120HZ AMOLED screen with 1000Hz touch sampling rate! That’s by far one of the fastest in the market, beating even some gaming phones. Tactility is provided by the X-Axis linear motor that’s also installed.
It uses a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. The Qualcomm equivalent would be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The phone has 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. A tradition of OnePlus, the MicroSD Card Slot is absent. The phone also has a VC cooling system which keeps the phone from exploding every time you play Genshin Impact for 3 or so hours.
The cameras aren’t to be missed either. The phone uses a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor. This is the successor to the popular IMX766 (and Sony is still not that good at naming things). This means OIS is retained as well as 4K@60fps video capabilities. Alongside this primary camera… are the usual 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro. Some things have to be cheapened out to retain that decent price tag. There’s also the typical 16MP selfie camera.
It has a 5000mAh battery with 80W fast charging which OnePlus said is able to fully charge a flat battery to full in just 30 minutes. Of course, it uses a USB-C port to charge. It comes with its own SUPERVOOC S charging chip to better manage the battery. Yep, Dart Charge is no more as the company is slowly absorbed by Oppo.
It is IP54 rated, the same as the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. It also has stereo speakers, 5G services, an in-display fingerprint scanner, Hi-Res Audio, and Dolby Atmos enhancement. This is also the first OnePlus phone to be equipped with an IR Blaster.
In our press release, only the Misty Green colour variant was announced despite having Tempest Grey available globally.
While the phone has already launched globally, OnePlus users in the Philippines need to wait until July 14th for its official release. During that day, a livestream will be held and the price will finally be revealed.
While there is no official price tag yet, OnePlus said that the Nord 3 “offers flagship-level features at a reasonable price point, making it pretty much everything you could ask for in a smartphone.”
