Slim and Sleek: The Huawei Nova 11 and 11 Pro Has Arrived in the Philippines!

Can’t afford the flagship P60 series? The Nova 11 series is basically a watered-down version of that.

If you missed it, Huawei brought the Nova 11 series to the Philippines. These phones are patterned after the flagship P60 series which is known for its great camera performance. The camera design at the back makes it feel like you’re holding a flagship but at a lower price.

With a lower price tag comes lower specs. You’re not going to expect a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a triple 50MP camera setup together for just PHP 34K now, would you? Well maybe you can but it won’t have the same level of R&D treatment as the more expensive flagships.

Huawei Nova 11:

The vanilla device comes with a linear design. Sure, it shares the same colours as the Nova 11 Pro but it doesn’t have that “NOVA” logo pattern emblazoned on its back. It’s also made with plastic instead of vegan leather.

The Black colour scheme features a golden ring on its primary camera which we honestly like because it gives off a premium look and feel. There’s also an all-gold colour which is uniform like the green one.

The phone has rounded corners, something we commonly see on several Wiko, Huawei, and Honor devices. For the Nova 11, the 120Hz OLED screen measures 6.7 inches with a resolution of 2412x1084px. According to Huawei, the phone has a whopping 93.14% screen-to-body ratio which makes the phone nearly all-wrapped in screen.

As with all recent Huawei phones, the phone lacks 5G connectivity which will affect their futureproofing. The chipset inside is powerful though, sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.

This is where it gets interesting. While the rear camera bump resembles that of the P60, these are obviously much weaker. The primary camera is a midrange 50MP sensor paired with an 8MP ultrawide and a Laser AF sensor. The latter is rare to see in a midrange phone. Laser sensors make focusing faster if not instantaneous. The front camera is also as interesting. It uses a 60MP sensor which makes it one of the largest ones used for a midrange phone’s selfie shooter. 4K is available for both the rear and the selfie camera! Team Red Rice couldn’t do that, not in their flagships either.

The battery has a 4500mAh capacity and is charged via a 66W USB-C port. It has NFC, 4G LTE, a Dual SIM slot, and runs off EMUI with Huawei Mobile Services. This version may lack Google services but it’s still using Android as its fork and so it supports APK files, allowing you to sideload your favourite apps.

It is available in all Huawei concept stores nationwide as well as Lazada. It is priced at PHP 24,999.

HUAWEI NOVA 11 PRO

A more premium, more elegant version of the Nova 11, this phone levels up the series by a mile. The Nova 11 Pro uses a vegan leather back that not only helps with grip but also makes it stylish. Embossed onto it is the Nova logo patterned to the phone’s back. This pattern would look strange on glass but looks nice on leather. Huawei calls this design “Nova Monogram”.

The phone also has another quirky feature, a dual front camera system. It feels like Huawei is one of the only companies to implement this anywhere as most brands would only have one front camera. This is a regular occasion for Huawei but not for others.

It retains the same curved 120Hz FullHD+ OLED screen as the Nova 11 and like it, is also protected with Kunlun Glass. However, the Nova 11 Pro uses a much higher-quality OLED screen with a slightly higher resolution (2652x1200px), P3 Dynamic Colour Range, and 1440Hz Hi-Frequency PWM Dimming.

The rear cameras were retained. Both phones appear to be designed for selfie lovers and vloggers because it’s the front camera that got an upgrade. Alongside the 60MP primary shooter, there’s also an 8MP Telephoto camera that helps with better blur. Moreover, it uses the same 4G-only Snapdragon 778G chipset.

The battery capacity is also the same but the charging speed increased from 60W to 100W which allows the phone to charge from a dead battery to full in just 30 minutes, at least according to Huawei’s claim.

Both Green and Black colour schemes are made with vegan leather. It comes with your usual connectivity options such as NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a USB-C port.

Get the phone via your nearest Huawei concept store or Lazada. For only, PHP 33,999, you could access a much better display and better front cameras. You also get a fancier leather back design.
