The Redmi Note 12 Turbo will debut in India as the POCO F5

With the same design and chipset!

Well well now, if that wasn’t so obvious. POCO here is launching the F5 with a design outsourced from its sister company, Redmi. See, even the Indian CEO confirmed that the phone will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset, just like the Redmi Note 12 Turbo that was launched first in China.

Unlike other phones in the series, the POCO F5 is a midranger, the first time so far. If this is indeed the Redmi Note 12 Turbo under a new identity, then we can expect the same spec sheet, such as a 6.67″ 120Hz AMOLED, a 5000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, and a 64MP primary camera.

Because the vanilla model is using a midrange chip and not a flagship one, we can expect the “GT” or “Pro” version to be using either a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 series chip or a Snapdragon 8 series chip. We’ll look into that once we gather more intel.

Also, while the chipset sounds like a downgrade from the Snapdragon 870 from the POCO F4, the chip is actually more efficient than that so expect better battery life. We’re also expecting 4K video capability as the chipset can easily render it.

The phone will launch on May 9th at 5:30 PM Indian Standard Time (that’s 8:00 PM in the Philippines)
