Three phones, three bootloop sessions, one complaint!
When the series was teased to arrive in the Philippines, we were kind of expecting four of them to be released, including the Redmi Note 12 5G. However, it seems that the phone is only available for certain carrier plans. The phone has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset which is rare to find in the Philippine smartphone market. You can experience it easily when you purchase a Nokia phone though.
With that said, there are three phones presented by Xiaomi Philippines which will be summarized below. You can read our article regarding the Redmi Note 12 series by clicking this link. It’s a juicy one, and definitely, the link isn’t a virus or anything.
REDMI NOTE 12
This is the Redmi Note 12 4G. A phone with an ultra-bright display and some new gimmicks like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 which the company apparently just glossed over, for some reason. Well, that’s because the chipset barely has changed from the Snapdragon 680. It still is a 4G chipset based on a 6nm manufacturing process. However, it’s slightly faster at 2.8GHz clock speeds (versus 2.4GHz of the predecessor chipset)
This 1200-nit display is actually a significant upgrade from the Redmi Note 11 which uses a cheaper AMOLED. At least, in this part, Xiaomi did not cheap out. As a bonus, the screen is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 so it’s resistant to a notable level of scratches and drops
There is a “triple” camera system consisting of a 50MP primary camera, 8MP Ultrawide, and 2MP macro. At least this phone has an ultrawide camera because other brands are starting to ditch it due to rising production costs and the complexity of a low-res ultrawide camera which includes issues like curving and distortion within the frame image. In other words, it’s no different than just using a fisheye lens.
Another mentioned feature is the 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging as well as an Infrared port, a 3.5mm jack, an IP53 rating, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a dedicated MicroSD Card slot.
It is available for Php 8,999 (4/128) however this is online exclusive. You can still get one outdoors but you have to spend a bit more, the 6/128 configuration is priced at Php 9,999 while the 8/128 trim is priced at Php 10,999. As the phone has just arrived, you could get a discount for the 4/128 trim so that it’s temporarily available for only Php 8,599. Plus, purchasing the said handset rewards you with a FREE Xiaomi 10,000mAh 22.5W power bank
Colours include Onyx Grey, Mint Green, and Ice Blue. These are some of the colours of the previous handset, the Redmi Note 11 series.

REDMI NOTE 12 PRO
This phone right here is the pinnacle of Redmi Note photography. It basically takes the best features of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ and then repackages it at a more affordable price point. It’s like a value pack for the aforementioned phone!
What we mean by that is that the phone is equipped with a flagship-tier 50MP Sony IMX766 camera. This means you get access not only to a bright and large sensor but also to Optical Image Stabilization which makes it ideal for vloggers on the go. That camera aside, the other two cameras are mostly aesthetics. Of course, we’re talking about the 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor. Like the Redmi Note 12 4G, this has a 16MP selfie camera.
All phones of the Redmi Note 12 series are equipped with an AMOLED screen, and so this phone is counted. Also, this phone has 67W fast charging which is, by the way, faster than most Samsung and Realme phones within its price. This means the phone charges a lot faster.
It strangely has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor as well despite the display clearly supporting an in-display one. It has 5G services thanks to the equipped MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. A slightly better version of the 920 (which is why the PH version of the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G retained said chipset because it’s already optimized).
Another outstanding feature of the phone is the stereo speakers which are Dolby Atmos certified. Normally, this feature is reserved for phones priced around P25K or higher.
It retains important ports like the 3.5mm jack, IR blaster, and MicroSD Slot. It also has 5G services, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Wi-Fi 6/6e connectivity, and face unlock.
Price starts at Php 16,999 (8/128) and Php 17,999 (8/256). There are four matte-like colours to choose from which fit a lot of personalities: Black, Cream, Green, and Violet. Also, if you pre-order now, you’d also get a FREE pair of Redmi Buds 3 Lite worth Php 1,199

Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G
The direct response to the flagship-like Realme 10 Pro+ 5G. (Seriously, there should be a sub-category of these types of handsets). However, unlike the Pro, the Plus focuses on camera with better zoom capabilities and details, featuring a newer Samsung ISOCELL HPX sensor with 200MP resolution. Not as impressive as Sony’s but ok. We thought phones already moved on with ultra-large MP sensors but we guess not.
Anyway, the phone is very similar to the Pro aside from that camera and charging speed. This one nearly doubles it to 120W which is absurdly fast, not even flagship phones would get this far.
Also, just like the Pro, pre-ordering one of these also rewards you with the same FREE pair of Redmi Buds 3 Lite TWS earbuds. In terms of colour options, you have Black, Green, Cream, and Violet. Same as the Pro.
Obviously, this one is more expensive. Camera sensors are expensive to obtain so this phone’s higher price tag is justified. This time, you only have one choice, the 8/256 trim priced at Php 21,999
