Realme provides users with a stable UI, a beautiful design, great cameras, and powerful performance. What else do you need?
Congratulations, Realme Philippines as you have single-handedly dominated the Philippine smartphone space in an entire year. That’s saying something because they are a very new company, newer than Transsion, its closest rival aside from Xiaomi, even.
The report originated from Canalys. In Q4 2022, Realme only had a small growth, about 4% while its sister company, Oppo, had a larger 16% growth thanks to great marketing efforts and the release of the Oppo Reno8 series (excluding the Reno8 T). Everyone else declined. Vivo is the worst offender, having declined 60% within the quarter.
Within the year, Realme managed to dominate everyone and keep its winning streak despite losing 14% growth. Its biggest rival Transsion with all of its subsidiaries combined (Infinix, Tecno, and Itel) climbed second place overall and had a large 89% growth. Not even three companies can topple down the great Realme. Xiaomi finally made its mark here. 5th place is good enough and even they had a positive growth. That’s more than what Samsung achieved despite them being fourth.
Austine Huang, Realme’s VP for marketing, said “Please accept our humble gratitude from the bottom of our grateful hearts to everyone who made realme the real champion for 2 concecutive years??? Work hard, be kind, and amazing things will happen. More to come as long as we have your trust and support, squads! #realmePH #hardworkpaysoff #realmemynumber1” which she shared on her social media pages.
The numbers for Oppo do not include OnePlus. Honor just made its debut this year starting with the X series of midrange phones and the Honor 70 upper midrange phone. Due to the overwhelming success of the X9a 5G, probably this year, they could make it the top 5.
