Wow, what an expensive pricing.
Yesterday, Oppo held an event physically exclusively for creators and that event introduced a few things, most notably, the Oppo Reno 8T, Oppo’s reimagining of the Realme 10 (or so we know).
The Oppo Reno 8T features a large display with a ridiculously large chin. It’s a 6.4″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. One of the things that made it pricey is the inclusion of an embedded fingerprint sensor.
The design is almost similar to that of the Realme 10. Not surprising since they have the s
Like the Realme 10, this phone features a MediaTek Helio G99, a 6nm chipset which should be similar in performance to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. With that said, it does not have any 5G connectivity. For the record, phones at sub-15K usually now have 5G support, it’s a basic feature at that price point.
The cameras are also the usual ones. However, Oppo included a gimmick which, we got to admit, is pretty fun to tinker around. It’s called the Microscope mode. It is activated through its macro camera which the company modified. It can zoom in up to 40x magnification, and now you could see all the dirt and bacteria on your hands. Not as effective nor powerful as optical microscopes, but this phone is much more accessible, and much more affordable.
Now onto the technicalities: The phone has a 100MP primary camera which is the main highlight of this phone as well as a 2MP microscope/macro and 2MP depth sensor. Again, the microscope camera is gimmicky and this phone lacks an ultrawide camera which may be a huge turn off for some especially for its asking price. The selfie camera is a 32MP sensor. One cool thing about this is that the rear camera hump features an interchangeable coloured LED which you could tinker through the settings.
It is equipped with a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging similar to the Realme 10. It charges through USB-C. The phone has a headphone jack and Dual Nano-SIM slot as well. It also has stereo speakers built-in and runs ColorOS
As mentioned earlier, it only has 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 6/6e, and Bluetooth 5.1. It comes in Sunset Orange which has a “fibreglass” back, and the other is the regular glass material, coloured in Midnight Black. Are you ready for the price? (*drum roll please). IT’S Php 18,999 with 8GB RAM and 256GB Storage! Pretty cheap right?

You could get the phone today online on Lazada, and, as mentioned before, third-party authorized stores already have a demo of the phone. You could pre-order it there and receive a FREE pair of Enco Buds 2 with your purchase alongside a Php1,000 voucher. This pre-order period is only until February 17th. After that, you won’t be able to receive the buds for free anymore, and they cost Php 1,999.
If you’re into experimenting with the large microscopic world but can’t afford an actual optical microscope, this is for you. By the way, real microscopes cost as much as a budget phone, ranging from Php12,000 at the lowest. However, if that’s the only thing you’re after, you’re better off with an actual microscope because all the necessary parts you need are available. The Oppo Reno 8T’s microscope is useful if you want to go mobile and need a phone at the same time.
