The Redmi 12C has a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset

For those who are wondering, no 11C series. Xiaomi may have forgotten to release a budget phone when the Redmi Note 11 was out

New year, new Redmi. The Redmi 12C is the first Redmi phone to be released in 2023. It is just what you would expect in any other budget phone. The previous budget phone, the 10C came with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset. However, the 12C went back to the G85. To denote how much of this was a downgrade, the Redmi Note 9 had this chipset and that phone was released two years ago.

It has your typical budget features. Namely, a large 5000mAh battery, a tall 6.71in. HD+ screen, and a 50MP primary camera with a 2MP depth helper. The front is again an 8MP shooter situated on top of the waterdrop notch. The MediaTek Helio G85 inside is supplied with 4 or 6GB RAM and either 64 or 128GB internal storage.

There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the Redmi logo is placed the same way on how POCO does it. Other features include Bluetooth 5.1, a 3.5mm jack, Dual Nano-SIM slot, expandable storage, FM Radio, and a MicroUSB port. It runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12.

The phone features a water-repellent design as seen by its striped pattern.

In China, the phone starts at CNY 699 (~Php 5.7K) for the 4/64 configuration. The other two are the 4/128 and 6/128 memory options which cost CNY 799 (~Php 6.5K) and CNY 899 (~Php 7.3K) respectively. There are three colours. Mint Green, Lavender, and Shadow Black.

There’s no international or Philippine availability yet, but we’re expecting it.
