Tinno is authorized to use their designs. This phone in China uses HarmonyOS as well.
Wiko is launching its very first 5G phone, and the design indeed looks glamorous and attractive, with a gold-plated camera ring that makes it look stunning and premium. But wait a minute, that overall design… It reminds us of the Huawei Nova 9 SE released just a month earlier.
Wiko and its parent company Tinno, are now authorized to use Huawei’s own designs for their handsets, and they are even allowed to use HarmonyOS. This makes Wiko and Honor an unofficial channel for Huawei’s products (though Honor is no longer affiliated with Huawei).
There are some minor differences. Notably, it uses a different colour palette to match Wiko’s “French glamour” theme as the company originated in France. Aside from having 5G services and this colour palette, the specs are identical, including a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 primary camera. Also, it uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset with 5G instead of the 4G-only Snapdragon 680. The performance difference is noticeable. This is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB internal storage
It is the first phone to feature HarmonyOS Connect. This is Huawei’s ecosystem feature that allows other Wiko users to seamlessly connect with each other and provide a brand new experience for them.
This is also Wiko’s first phone to feature a high refresh rate. It also has beaten the Wiko T50 (which we have reviewed by the way) in terms of charging speeds; going as high as 66W (from 40W).
Because the phone is the Huawei Nova 9 SE, it features a 6.78in. 90Hz FHD+ (2388x1080px) IPS LCD screen and a 108MP primary with a 16MP punch-hole front camera. It also features the same 4000mAh battery with 66W fast charging. While the Chinese version launched with HarmonyOS Connect, the global version is expected to launch with Android 12 or 13.
