Tecno POVA 4 Pro with a gaming-like aura, now available at a ridiculously low price!

Looking for a budget gaming phone? This one perfectly describes it.

Tecno looked at all the so-called budget gaming phones and thought “why don’t we actually make it look like a gaming phone?” The POVA series is known for their extravagant and unique designs, often having gaming-like elements added to them, now the POVA 4 series actually makes that design statement truly stand out with its Icy Blue or Lava colouring and an asymmetrically geometric camera island. By the way, the back panel glows, just like with expensive gaming phones.

Aside from the design, Tecno is also known for aggressive pricing. The POVA 4 Pro brings an AMOLED screen and 8/128 trim to the sub-10K range. That’s absolutely stunning!

This is a direct upgrade of the POVA 4, where instead of an HD+ IPS LCD, Tecno managed to add a 90Hz AMOLED to this budget gaming phone, and probably for the best too. However, the screen is a waterdrop notch so it does feel a little dated in terms of this design type.

It is powered by an efficient Helio G99, MediaTek’s equivalent of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, paired with 8GB RAM and a choice between 128 or 256GB internal storage. Both of these can be expanded. The ROM through a MicroSD Card slot and the RAM virtually, up to 13GB RAM total can be allocated. Just take note virtual RAM will temporarily consume your ROM and typically, phones need to be restarted in order for it to take effect.

Inside is a 6000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Large batteries has always been a feature on POVA handsets, even with the first one, which came with a ridiculously large 7000mAh battery. This is charged via USB-C.

It has a dual camera system (“dual” being used in the loosest sense) comprising of a 50MP primary along with a 2MP depth camera. The front camera sits on a u-shaped notch and has a resolution of 8MP.

Among other features mentioned, these include the Stereo speakers with AI-based noise cancellation, Z-Axis Linear Motor for a better haptic and touch experience as well as a “hard gyroscope” which is required for motion-based games.

It is now available on Shopee with a whoppingly cheap price of Php 9,699 for the 8/128 variant. Meanwhile, the 8/256 variant sells for Php 10,290. You cannot find specs like these elsewhere. Colours include Rutile Orange, Uranolith Grey, and Fluorite Blue. Aside from Uranolith Grey, the colours are named after mineral ore deposits. “Uranolith” does not exist and is made up for the POVA 4 series, possibly to make it sound “game-y”
