Wow it’s nearly August???
The ROG Phone 5S may be a success for ASUS here as they are now bringing its long-awaited successor to the Philippines. If you recall, ASUS has been hyping the phone a month before its global release.
Both the regular and pro versions share identical specs, with differences in their capacity and RAM. The ROG Phone 6/6 Pro has a 6.78″ FHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Its refresh rate is an upgrade over the ROG Phone 5’s 144Hz. The phone has shoulder trigger pads, an enhanced cooling plate in contrast to its predecessor, and RGB lighting. The Pro version has a smaller 2″ OLED screen at the back, serving as a mini notification LED.
Both phones use the enhanced version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset called the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. The main difference is that the latter is manufactured by TSMC based on a 4nm process. This is paired with 12 or 16GB RAM for the regular version and 18GB RAM for the Pro version. It has two storage options, 256GB and 512GB, the latter of which is available to both variants.
The camera system here has been upgraded significantly too. As a gaming phone, cameras are an afterthought but here, ASUS even made it a capable camera phone by using a flagship 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. This also comes with OIS. The other cameras are legitimately just afterthoughts. This 50MP camera is joined by a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The front camera stands on top of the notchless curved AMOLED screen with a resolution of 12MP.
The phone has a dual 3000mAh battery with 65W fast charging and also supports USB Power Delivery. Unlike other flagship phones, it has a 3.5mm jack but does not have a MIcroSD card slot. It has 5G services, a USB-C port, stereo speakers located at the front of the phone, and support for Dirac Virtual Spatial Audio for an immersive sound experience.
The phone will arrive on 23rd July in the Philippines and that’s the only time we would know about pricing, so stay tuned. It would be available in ASUS flagship stores as well as online such as Lazada and Shopee
