Just another budget phone with a price from Samsung.
Samsung has released the third generation M-series phones. This series is intended to be an even more affordable variant of the popular A-series midrangers. The M13 is a budget phone in all respects. A typical one but also, probably the most “premium”-like out of all of them.
It has a typical waterdrop notch. It concerns a 6.6in. HD+ (720x1600px) PLS LCD screen. PLS (Plane-to-Line Switching) is basically an improved IPS LCD screen also developed by Samsung. The company claims that this type of display produces more colour and about 10% more brightness than a typical IPS screen. The phone also has a fast 90Hz refresh rate.
The phone is powered by a Samsung Exynos 850 chipset. We’re not really keen on the performance of this phone since Exynos chipsets are notorious for their underwhelming performance both in theory and in practice. Since this is on the budget side of things, the performance should be similar to the Helio G80 or the Snapdragon 662. It comes with a Mali-G52 GPU. The chipset is paired with 4GB RAM and either 64 or 128GB internal storage that can further be expanded via MicroSD card up to 1TB.
There are three cameras at the back and the 8mp front camera sits at the waterdrop notch. The primary camera is a typical midrange 50mp sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 The other camera is a 5mp ultrawide, and finally, we have the 2mp depth camera for background blur. We’re not expecting anything more for a phone intended for budget-conscious users.
The battery has a typical 5000mAh capacity and is charged through a USB-C port. It has 15W fast charging at the helm. This rating is just the minimum for fast charging. It has a headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. It comes in Deep Green, Orange Copper, and Light Blue colour options. Price is yet to be announced.
