With a phone this powerful, you have to also have a powerful wallet
We were quite anticipating the arrival of the global version of the Red Magic 7 Pro in the Philippines because the base variant has arrived here. Well, it’s official alright and one of its main features is the camouflaged front camera. As you may have remembered, ZTE started this whole “under-display camera” that everyone has been developing.
Before we get to that though let’s go with the other specs.
In the Philippines, the phone is official through Xundd, the official distributor. It also comes with a set of TWS earbuds as a bonus. The screen is a 6.8in. FHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and 960Hz touch sampling rate. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This is ZTE’s flagship gaming phone and comes with the “mecha” design.
As obvious as ever, the phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset paired with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and either 256 or 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. It has liquid cooling and an RGB-lit fan with a power of 20,000RPM to help the phone run its best performance even under intense pressure. The back is also transparent so you can see the insides, as well as the RGB lights, light up thus distracting everyone thanks to its cool glare. This method is proven and tested to make players win every time. In addition to the 9-layer VC cooling plate and fan, it also has an Airflow Channel with two air intakes.
The cameras are not a huge priority here so you’re getting midrange ones. This help ZTE save some money in spending camera equipment. The main camera is 64mp coupled with an 8mp ultrawide camera and 2mp macro camera that does not do anything significant. The front camera is a 16mp UD camera. We want to identify how’s the quality of this camera since it’s nearly three years since the first phone that has it, the ZTE Axon 20 5G.
It has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 5G services, NFC, and a 3.5mm jack for connectivity. It is one of the rarer flagship phones that still is equipped with a jack. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner.
It runs RedMagicOS 5.0 based on Android 12. To help the chipset run games smoother, ZTE has embedded its in-house gaming chipset called Red Core 1. To help it not die, the phone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery but unlike the Chinese variant, the global version would only get 65W of charging instead of 135W. It’s significantly slower but most users can’t tell the difference so long it charges ultra fast.
In the Philippines, the phone starts at Php 45,999 for the 16/256. Double the storage and you would have to spend Php4,000 more. Both of these variants can receive the Nubia T1 TWS earbuds. It has Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, and 5G services for connectivity. Like other new gaming phones, this has Hi-Res Audio and a headphone jack. It is available exclusively via Xundd
