The Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro goes global!

A top tier gaming phone with a transparent design

The successor to the popular gaming series, the Red Magic 6, is now global! One of its main features is its transparent design and fast touch sampling rate. We already discussed it in a previous article so we’ll keep it short here.

To recall, the Red Magic 7 Pro has a 6.8in. FHD+ AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. The screen also has a 960Hz touch sampling rate. The refresh rate is a slight downgrade from the Red Magic 7 but is compensated fairly with a faster touch sampling rate. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

It is quite expected that it will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. This chipset is paired with 12, 16, or 18GB RAM, and either 128, 256, 512, or 1TB UFS 3.1 storage. It has a homemade cooling system called ICE 8.0. In addition to that, there is an accessory connector, an optional turbo cooler, and trigger pads. Oh, the main kicker here is the Red Core 1 gaming chip to go alongside the chipset. This enhances the performance of games and helps it handle high-demanding ones.

The camera department is not the main priority for this device so it only gets a set of midrange cameras. The main camera is 64mp while the other two include the commonly seen 8mp ultrawide and the 2mp macro camera that has the same effect as placebos.

One of the main caveats of the global version is the significantly slower charging rate. Instead of the 135W found in China, the global and Philippines edition only come with 65W fast charging. It retains the same 5000mAh battery, however.

The higher touch sampling rate allows for better haptic feedback. It has RGB lighting at the back so you can clearly tell it’s a gaming phone. After all, what is a gaming device without RGB lighting in them? The built-in turbofan can power up to 20,000rpm while being “super quiet”, as ZTE claims.

There are two colours available. The non-transparent version is called Obsidian Black and will come with 256GB storage. The transparent version is called Supernova and will come in 512GB storage. The global variant will launch with only 16GB RAM. This includes the Philippines. We’ll keep you posted if Xundd, its official reseller in the Philippines, announces prices.
