Their laptops are quite affordable after all and are serviceable.
According to IDC, Acer has garnered a total of 27% market share in the PC and laptop industry as Work-From-Home demands continue to rise. The company has maintained this steady top record for 16 years now and counting. Honestly impressive as no other company can be on top for so long. The pandemic has caused a lot of us to work from home therefore tablets and PCs have a sudden rise in demand.
In 2021 it had a total of 33% market share. It also has garnered a total of 30% market share for laptop sales alone. In terms of gaming laptops, the company has accumulated a 34% market share. Not surprising since the Acer Nitro 5 for example, is a bang-for-buck gaming laptop.
For the PC category, the company has had a total of 31% market share in 2021. It had dominated the consumer all-in-one desktop category with a total of 52% market share, that’s more than half!
In total, about 1.72 million laptops were shipped and sold to Philippine users, all from different competing brands. This number has risen significantly from 1.35 million and 1.34 million in 2020 and 2019 respectively. PCs globally have a high demand and as of 2019, 350 million units were shipped. In 2020, there is the ongoing chip shortage due to factories temporarily closing thanks to the pandemic.
The chip shortage issue is still ongoing and an issue that shouldn’t be ignored. According to Acer, the issue will continue to persist until at least the latter half of 2022.
Acer launched the Earthion Initiative last year which aims to expand the sustainability of the company. This initiative involves the company’s entire ecosystem, from supply chain partners and staff, all the way to addressing environment concerns such as environmental wastes.
