It’s not everyday you see Apple release a midranger. For those who are broke (and at the loosest sense of the word), you can now have the chance to buy an iPhone!
During the Peek Performance event, Apple has unveiled the new iPhone SE, which is now in its third generation. Like the previous iPhone SE, it is a compact “budget” phone with a similarly outdated design, which honestly, we don’t really mind since it’s a classic.
One of the main features of the phone is the IP67 water resistance, which wasn’t seen in the previous iPhone SE. It also boasts the Apple Bionic A15 chip inside, yes the same chip used for the iPhone 13 mini. The phone supports 5G services.
The display is 4.7in. Retina IPS LCD panel, with a not-so-FHD+ resolution (woopsie) and wide colour display. This display has 650nits peak brightness and oleophobic coating. It has a fingerprint scanner that acts as a home button, and it’s the classic one seen on older iPhones.
There is a single 12mp camera at the back. But don’t let that deceive you thinking it’s terrible. This is an iPhone after all and software engineering as well as cameras is what the company is good at. This camera has an aperture of f/1.8 and has EIS, Focus Pixels (a fancy word for AF), and True Tone flash with Slow Sync. The front camera is 7mp at f/2.2
Apple did not mention the battery size but it could last up to 15 hours and supports 20W fast charging as well as Qi Wireless charging
Because this is an Apple product, this cheap phone is priced in the Philippines at Php28,990 for the 3/64 variant, Php 31,990 for the 3/128 variant, and Php 37,990 for the 3/256 variant. In comparison to most contemporary Android phones, iOS has a lot better optimization and ecosystem, as well as software demands so even the latest iPhones won’t lag on 3GB RAM or less. Probably one of the best things about iOS and iPad OS really.
