This, in the span of three years
According to Counterpoint Research, smartphone startup Realme has grown rapidly, reaching the 6th position. So it will be soon before they reach top 5.
In a span of three years, the company managed to ship 1.2 million to a whopping 15 million phones! That’s an incredibly fast growth. The company has a 135% YoY growth and currently sits with 5% of the total global smartphone shares. In line with this, BBKs other brands are also, interestingly, in the top 5. In order, the top five smartphone brands, from fifth to first, include Vivo, Oppo, Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung. This high year on year growth also defeated Xiaomi for Q2 2021, which has a 98.5% YoY growth.
“In the past three years, we are like a new born calf making little of a tiger as well as a real go-getter”, said Founder and CEO Sky Li in his open letter. The company is focused on developing trendy smartphones and AIoT technologies and gizmos for the young generation, which is reflected from their slogans “Proud to be Young” and “Dare to Leap”. The company also has employees as young as 29 years old, some younger. According to Counterpoint, Realme, as well as other contemporary brands, have been focusing hard on developing 5G devices, especially in emerging markets. Realme’s aggressive market as well as great specs-to-price ratio are also contributing for their insanely fast growth.
In addition, Counterpoint has also noted that the company is the world’s fastest smartphone brand, and has ranked first in the Philippines, and Bangladesh; fourth in India and fifth in Europe.
In the Philippines, the company would be launching two new products that have been unveiled already globally. These are the Realme Book and the Realme GT Master Edition. Both of these will be unveiled tomorrow, 23rd September, with official pricing and configurations. We can’t wait what else Realme has in their sleeves. Their aggressive marketing as well as a wide variety of products all made it possible for them to reach such a height.
