That’s… a slow churning of updates Xiaomi.
Xiaomi has rescheduled on how frequent its OTA updates would appear. The company has stated that it will bring quarterly updates instead of monthly updates in some of its lineups excluding the A series which use Android One. These include the flagship Mi series, and its Redmi and Poco phones.
This move feels like a downgrade considering you will now receive updates less frequently and slowly, that includes major and security updates. “We release monthly and quarterly security patch updates on Xiaomi devices for at least two years after product listing in the marketplace” Xiaomi said in their documentation. “Monthly and quarterly security updates will include Android security patches released by Google, as well as patches for Xiaomi-specific issues.”
Only three phones remained to receive monthly updates (for now) while the rest gets it quarterly. These include the Mi A3, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, which are all under the Android One banner. For its quarterly updates, there are over 60 devices listed, which will be listed down below:

Xiaomi has also released a disclaimer, saying that devices getting monthly and quarterly security updates may not be “released at fixed intervals” as there are cases when these security patches are also included in regular MIUI updates. However, the company confirmed that “regular OS updates will include up-to-date security patches when delivered.”
