The iPhone 12 mini is a variant of the regular iPhone 12, coming with the same specs, except it’s more compact, with just a small size of 5.4in. A report from Taiwanese news source TrendForce said that due to continuously disappointing sales of the iPhone 12 mini, Apple will halt its production today.
According to TrendForce, the iPhone 12 mini has “reached end-of-life ahead of time” during Q2 this year. One major reason the phone is failing because of its price tag, when the phone was launched in October last year, its retail price was $699 (~34K) in the US, and is much more expensive here in the Philippines, at Php43,990. For Php6000 more, you can get the full-sized iPhone 12, which costs Php49,990.
Although the iPhone 12 mini is stopping its production, Apple is still expected to unveil the iPhone 13 mini, with rumours suggesting that the former will permanently stop production around 2022.
