About a year ago, Honor has been split off from Huawei, and has been sold to Zhixin New Information Co. Ltd. With Honor being sold, they are free to once again use Google Services and work with western companies.
According to Huawei, they sold Honor to secure their survival, like a mother would do for their children, and that’s pretty sweet and friendly of them. The company said that their consumer business has been in “tremendous pressure” since the company has literally been banned from existing.
After the deal was secured, and is luckily a success, Honor has been in talks with American and western firms, including Qualcomm and Google, so that they can work with them again; as Honor used to be part of Huawei, they too were affected by the ban.
It seems like the talks were successful as a new Honor device, the Honor 50, has been reported to have Google Services. The first time since its ban.
The report is no speculation, it actually came from the company’s Germany division. The company announced that the phone will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, a new 5G chipset which is essentially an up-tiered Snapdragon 780G. The company also confirmed that the phone will indeed have Google Services by default. In addition, the phone’s design was leaked, said to sport a dual-ring design (like the Poco F3). From the design above, it appears to have a triple camera setup and what appears to be a periscopic camera on the bottom left.
Honor and Huawei fans are going to be delighted to see a GMS-enabled phone for the first time in years. There is no word yet for release date, but it is said that it will be next month, possibly globally.
