Realme finally released the 5G brethren of the Realme 8 family. The phone will compete against the Redmi Note 10 5G and would also sport a 90Hz LCD, this time, finally adopting a proper FHD screen and additionally, Asahi Dragontrail Glass. However, this one sits in the middle of the Realme 8 which has a 60Hz FHD SAMOLED display and the Realme 7 5G with a 120Hz LCD panel
You read the title, the Realme 8 5G is coming with the Dimensity 700 5G processor with a 7nm process. According to Realme, the Realme 8 5G is the first phone to come with said processor in India. The chipset’s CPU is composed of two Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 CPUs all clocked at 2GHz. The chipset has a sub-6 GHz modem with a theoretical peak speed of 2.77Gbps (Gigabit per second). In comparison, the vanilla Realme 8 only has 4G available with its Helio G95 chipset and has half peak speed than the Dimensity 700
While Dimensity 700 is slightly inferior to the G95 in terms of performance, it is more efficient because it is built on a 7nm process vs Helio G95’s 12nm.
The Realme 8 5G comes with a standard 5000mAh battery which should last you 21h average according to Realme’s testing, this equates to 34.2h on standby, 5.9h on music and 2.1h on calling. However, the actual longevity of the battery still depends on the user.
The Realme 8 5G has a triple camera setup, but also trade blows from the Realme 8. It has a 48mp Samsung GM1 main sensor, a 2mp Black and White lens as well as a 2mp macro lens. What it lacks versus the Realme 8 is the 8mp ultrawide, which has a more practical use unlike the macro and the B&W lenses and also has no 4K recording nor 1080p @60fps. For the front cam, it has a standard 16mp lens.
The phone has a dedicated SD Card slot for up to 1TB, as well as dual sim expansion. From what we can tell, the phone is essentially a renamed Realme V13 5G for global markets, and has finally removed the “DARE TO LEAP” slogan marking, that large large slogan marking on the back.
It comes in two colours: Supersonic Black and Supersonic Blue and is first available in Thailand. Though it is most likely going to be available in the Philippines alongside the rest of the Realme 8 family. It is available in one storage option and a choice of 4 or 8GB RAM. In Thailand, it starts at BHT 10,000 (~15.4K php) similar to the Realme 7 5G, for the 8/128 version. It is also soon to launch in India. For Thailanders, you can get the phone early on the following stores: Shopee Thailand, Lazada Thailand, JD Thailand, and This Shop Thailand.
One more thing. The company announced that a Realme 8 Pro 5G is coming soon as well, filling the gap between the Realme 8 Pro and Realme 8 5G
