PLDT and DITO Telecommunity signed an interconnection deal for fixed and wireless broadband subscribers

DITO and PLDT have signed a deal today, 23rd February for an interconnection deal for wireless subscribers.

The deal includes the construction of a transmission facility that serves as the point of interconnection between the two telcos, PLDT said to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

“It is important for us that we establish this interconnection capability between PLDT-Smart and the customers of DITO as mandated by the NTC (National Telecommunications Commission), and principally to make sure that our customers are able to communicate,” PLDT chief revenue officer and Smart Communications president and CEO Al Panlilio said.

This interconnection facility will deliver the requirements DITO needs. The facility is seen to benefit wireless subscribers and fixed-network subscribers of both telcos by enabling them to communicate and connect services as needed.

This planned facility is planned to be finished by March. This also coincides with DITO’s plans to launch commercially next month.

Globe, PLDT and DITO have agreed to establish a clearing house to implement phone number portability.

Yesterday, DITO also passed its first technical audit. According to the audit, DITO can provide a minimum of 507.5 mbps for 5G, and 85.9mbps for 4G services.
