OPPO Confirms Partnership with Smart to Bring You the Find N5!

That’s an easy way to access and enjoy Oppo’s very thin foldable.

Oppo Philippines surprisingly released the Find N5 with an exclusive partnership with Smart! That is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that you can now get the new foldable at convenient installment plans and you also get free data plans from Smart (more on that later). A curse in that it is SIM-locked to Smart and you cannot use other ISPs even if you want to, plus there may be some extra charges that you couldn’t have anticipated.

We were surprised because Oppo rarely brings their flagships here in the Philippines. It is always welcome when they do and the Oppo Find N5 is a great contender.

The Find N5 is, as you can tell, a flagship device, sporting the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. Oppo is boasting how thin it is when unfolded, its thinness is almost similar to a pencil. Being thin on a foldable is a good thing because, unlike regular smartphones, thin foldable devices are easier to hold and less bulky to put in bags.

The hinge is engineered to last and is made from 3D-printed Titanium Alloy. Oppo calls this “Flexion Hinge”. This mechanism also lowers the chance for that annoying folding line to appear at the middle of the display even after multiple folds.

As a foldable handset, it comes with two displays. The inner tablet-like display measures 8.12 inches with a QXGA+ (2480x2248px) OLED screen and 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile the outer smartphone-like display measures 6.62″ with a nearly 1.5K (2616x1140px) resolution OLED screen. This outer screen also has 120Hz refresh rate and both displays have 240Hz touch response rate.

The outer camera island is shaped similar to the OnePlus 13 and the Find X8, featuring a circular cutout with cameras arranged symmetrically. Because OnePlus is partners with Hasselblad and Oppo owns OnePlus, the Find N5 gets this treatment as well, with emphasis on the Hasselblad Color Calibration feature.

As you can tell by the image, there are three cameras, all of which support 2-axis OIS. The main sensor is a 50MP shooter with 2-axis OIS, the other lens is an ultrawide camera. It’s only 8MP and feels similar to budget phone ultrawide cameras. Finally, there is the telephoto camera also with 50MP resolution.

Because it’s a folding phone, both the inner and outer screen get their own cameras for selfies. Although, Oppo is not prioritizing the selfie as much. It’s only 8MP for both inner and outer screens with f/2.4 aperture. Make it with what you will.

The Find N5 comes quite with a modest battery size. It has both wired and wireless charging. Wired charging is rated at 80W (SuperVOOC) and wireless charging at 50W (AirVOOC). Meanwhile, the foldable phone is also listed to support up to 13.5W of Power Delivery charging, a proprietary charging technology from Qualcomm that allows third-party chargers compatible with it to charge devices rapidly. The Find N5’s battery size is 5600mAh. Nothing out of this world, but welcome nonetheless.

The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, FaceID, NFC, a USB-C port, and 5G connectivity. Among other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and of course 4G LTE.

This foldable phone is both IPX8 and IPX9 rated. Yes, both are a requirement because IPX8 and X9 have differing functions. IPX8 is designated to devices that can withstand being drowned in water, beyond 1 meter. Meanwhile IPX9 is rewarded to devices and certify they can withstand strong jet water pressure. Hence why both are needed. Still, do not immerse the phone in salt water as this will corrode the components and make the Find N5 unusable.

However, it should be available in any Smart store nationwide.
