Waifus in the Air! RedMagic 10 Air Is Now Available.

Lightweight gaming phone for all our small-handed ones out there.

When you see the word “Air” in a smartphone, it usually refers to devices that are either lightweight or a slightly nerfed version. That, or the phone is being simplified. The RedMagic 10 Air is like a mix of all those while retaining its gaming phone look and performance.

The RedMagic 10 Air is intended to be the slim, non-bulky version of the RedMagic 10 Pro, as the name tells. Clearly gaming phones are very heavy and not that grippy, so for those with small hands, you can get this instead. Don’t ya worry, the built-in waifu is still included, because RedMagic knows none of you touch grass.

It officially launched in China on April 17. And as a diet version of the RedMagic 10 Pro, it has some small compromises to it. For instance, the refresh rate is slightly lower, at 120Hz versus 144Hz of the RedMagic 10 Pro. It is also slightly but unnoticeably dimmer, from 2000nits max to just 1600nits. In the gaming community, we call these “nerfs” for balancing reasons.

The chipset has also been nerfed. From the Snapdragon 8 Elite down to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This chipset is still competitive but also tad weaker than the one on official server. The differences between the two are marginal. As long you can game in extreme graphics with no difficulty, you can use the phone with a stable software, and with minimal or no heating problems, the chipset difference does not matter. The phone comes with 12 or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM or 256 or 512GB UFS 4.0 ROM.

The phone visibly only has two cameras at the back and its island is designed similarly to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. One of these holes also houses the RGB lighting, because we all know it’s not a gaming device if it lacks the fancy rainbow lights. Your puny little civic with a fart can becomes a racing vehicle when you add fancy lights to it. It’s a scientific fact.

Kidding aside, the RGB lights do look fancy, especially on gaming hardware. Going back to the cameras, both of these are 50MP. The other is an ultrawide and the other is a wide primary camera with OIS. As per RedMagic tradition, the selfie camera is hidden so you get a seamlessly clean gaming experience. This has a resolution of 16MP. So far, only ZTE’s RedMagic has implemented the hidden selfie camera and has probably perfected it for the last six years.

Hear the thunderous muzzle of the semi-auto rifle you’re using whenever you play PUBG thanks to its stereo speakers with Hi-Res. In addition, now you can clearly and REALLY hear Lisa’s climbing sounds for the fun family experience. The phone boots on RedMagicOS 10.0 which is based on Android 15. Android upgrades are on the way of course, we’re just waiting for the Android 16 beta and stable launch this September. Oh, the new version has its final beta released a few weeks back.

Don’t you hate it when your phone dies at the middle of an exciting match? Or that moment when your phone is at 2% battery and you just had your 100th Mobile Legends match? Don’t fret, because the RedMagic 10 Air has a 6000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. Although, there are several times when the brand launches a global variant of the phone with slightly downgraded charging times or battery capacity, for some reason. We just have to wait and see this coming April 23rd.

Among other features, the RedMagic 10 Air has an IR Blaster, USB-C 3.0 port, an IP54 rating, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. In China, the phone is priced at CNY 3,499 (~PHP 27K) for the 12/256 variant, and CNY 4,199 (~PHP 32K) for the 16/512 variant. Various accessories, such as a cooling fan, are sold separately. The phone itself has a built-in heatsink and vapour chamber so that you can game a lot without worrying of heat damaging the internal parts.

Colours include Orange, which is the most customized version, and black and white, which are far more simple in design. To reiterate, the phone will launch globally on April 23. We are waiting for ZTE’s announcement for when they are going to launch this phone in the Philippines.
