It’s Official! The Honor 200 and 200 Pro will be Released in July 17!

THAT’S TOMORROW! They brought the Pro for real this time.

July 17 is the official unveiling of the highly anticipated Honor 200 series. For the first time too, the Honor 200 Pro will be released alongside. This might be the norm moving forward. The launch event will be held in BGC. All we really have to do is wait for the price and specs (hint hint: it’s 2X,XXX for the Honor 200, and 2X,XXX for the Pro, just a few thousands away from each other).

The main highlight of the series is Honor’s partnership with French studio, “Studio Harcourt”. Going to the portrait mode of the camera app allows you to select the engineered Harcourt filters, including the iconic B&W filter. As always, AI is used to enhance these images and make them look professional as if taken by a real professional studio! This AI algorithm (including a dedicated AI chip), combined with Harcourt’s expertise, are what makes the phone an “AI Portrait Master”.

HONOR 200 PRO:

The highest end of the series, the Honor 200 Pro is essentially a flagship in its own right. It features a design similar to the Honor 200 but pop under the hood and you will find some significant differences. Firstly, it is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the latter is far more powerful thanks to a more potent GPU, the Adreno 740. CPU performance should be relatively the same. This is also why the POCO F6 Pro uses the 8 Gen 2 and the POCO F6 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The phone has 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. No MicroSD Card slot though.

The phone has a metallic matte back and plastic frame. The design is inspired by the coastline, hence its neutral and eye-pleasing colours. This same design philosophy also applies to the vanilla Honor 200. It also feels comfortable to hold despite its 8.2mm thickness. Yep, it’s that thin. The camera island is inspired from Gaudi’s Casa Mila.

There are three cameras at the back and two cameras at the front. Well, in the loosest sense. It uses the same selfie camera as the regular Honor 200 but there is also a 2MP depth sensor for supposedly better bokeh. The phone’s display is also of a higher resolution, 2700x1224px.

The three cameras at the back include the 50MP main, a 50MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide. The main and the telephoto both have OIS so you can ensure of a stable video. Although how well they handle shakes is still up for debate. Some phones with OIS do pretty terribly despite it.

The ultrawide camera also functions as a macro camera, eliminating the need of a dedicated sensor, which is a good thing because the 2MP cameras are pretty much not essential on any phone and are there mostly for aesthetic purposes. Honestly, we were surprised how well our shots turned out with it. Check the coin above, it’s highly detailed!

The phone features a 5200mAh battery with 100W Honor Supercharge. The charger is included inside so rest assured; you can take advantage of all 100W without compromise. The battery is made of Silicon-Carbon (SiC) which allows Honor to install a smaller-sized battery without compromising on capacity. It also has 66W Fast wireless charging which is a nice bonus.

Three colours are available: Ocean Cyan, Black, and Moonlight White.

HONOR 200

The Honor 200 is essentially almost the same phone as the Pro, retaining the same AI Portrait Master tagline, AI Engine, and of course, Harcourt filters. The main difference lies in its chipset and the type of camera it uses.

This phone uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a chipset typically seen at this range. The phone comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM as well.

The display is not that far off either. It still has 1.5K resolution but slightly lower on the X Axis, 2412x1200px. It also has the same 120Hz refresh rate.

The cameras of the Honor 200 are nearly identical to the Honor 200 Pro. It uses the same 50MP +50MP+12MP setup as well. Yes, that means the full package consisting of the main wide camera, the telephoto, and the ultrawide. The same 50MP selfie camera is used as well, though no 2MP secondary.

We said “nearly identical” because the 50MP Primary sensor is different. It is now a more specific and known sensor, the Sony IMX906. This still has OIS and EIS, but it is slightly smaller, measuring 1/1.56″.

In terms of other specs, the Honor 200 features the same 100W charging speed and 5200mAh SiC battery. See, very little compromise from the Pro with a more affordable price tag. The only thing missing here is wireless charging, but that’s not a big of an issue. We forgot to mention that both phones also have an IR Blaster so we’re happy to see it becoming mainstream once again.

There are four colours, according to the global release but Honor Philippines has the final say on what colours they are going to bring here. The four colours include Emerald Green, the flagship colour; followed by Moonlight White, Coral Pink, and finally, Black. Its price is only slightly cheaper than the Honor 200 Pro.
