The Honor 200 Series Is COMING SOON in the Philippines!

You read the title. This means the Pro is coming!

Honor just announced the Honor 200. If you can notice, Honor Philippines skips ahead one generation to the next. We never had the Honor 100, but we do have the Honor 50, 70, 90, and now 200. Also, our good colleagues from Honor just hinted that the Honor 200 PRO is coming too! For the first time, the brand has a competitor to BBK’s “luxury midrange” handsets such as the Oppo Reno 11 Pro and the Vivo V30 Pro.

What we really like about this device is the design. Honor has always felt unique in contrast to other brands. See, the camera island is not perfectly circular but more oblate in shape. While Oppo calls themselves the “Portrait Expert”, Honor titles themselves as the “Portrait Master“. We’re waiting until another brand calls themselves as the “Portrait Pro” or something.

Honor Philippines is pretty obscure about the specs. They really don’t want you to know about it, even the price. We can’t reveal these things either until the launching so what we best can do is take a look at the official global website. No, they are not announcing a date yet, even in the events page on Facebook.

So, if the specs are official globally as well as the Philippines, you’re looking at a phone that comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a 6.7″ 1.5K 120Hz OLED display with “wet touch” enhancement and HDR10+ certification. The former, “wet touch” allows you to touch the screen smoothly even if you have wet fingers, a feature we’ve seen in some Oppo devices lately.

The phone features a design inspired from Gaudi’s Casa Mila and globally, comes in four colours. Here, the official colours include Moonlight White and Emerald Green. The latter being a signature colour. The other two that aren’t mentioned are Black and Coral Pink. The phone’s back appears to be made of ceramic.

Cameras are the phone’s main feature, no doubt about that. There are three fully functional cameras here. Two of which have 50MP resolution and the other, a 12MP Ultrawide camera with 2.5cm macro capabilities. Like every tech company in your local neighborhood, “AI” is the main feature and Honor uses it (the phone even has a dedicated chip for it and the marketing tagline is #AIPortraitMaster) to improve those sleek and trendy bokeh effects. As a software enhancement however, there might still be some inconsistencies, especially at more powerful apertures. The phone allows you to change the aperture before and after taking the shot since everything is computational.

Going back to the first two 50MP cameras, the first one is a Sony IMX906 sensor, described as a “Portrait Main Camera”. This sensor is large and fits the flagship-like theme the phone is going for. It has a size similar to the Sony IMX890 (1/1.56″). It also has quadrapixel binning as well as f/1.95 aperture. The other 50MP is the telephoto, a feature retained from the Honor 100 and the Honor 90. This telephoto is actually a Sony IMX856 sensor with 2.5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom. Like the primary camera, this features OIS.

If you count the selfie camera, there are indeed three 50MP sensors. Honor, however, did not mention which sensor they used for this but it does have “optimized selfie lighting algorithms”.

Other specs include a 5200mAh SiC battery (which allows to carry a higher capacity at a smaller sized compartment) with 100W SuperCharge, an “All-Range Cooling System” with a large 34696 sqm dissipation area, stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio, 5G services, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and… get ready for this… an IR BLASTER! It seems like the feature is making a grand comeback!

The phone comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM, just like the Honor 90. Its price is PHP 2x,xxx. That’s all we can say.

The Honor 200 Pro will be discussed in another article as this is quite long already. See you there, techies!
