A bit pricey for a so-called flagship killer. No charger inside too.
Yesterday, realme launched the highly anticipated return of the GT series, starting with the GT6. It comes in two colours: Razor Green and Fluid Silver. The latter being its main colour. The phone itself has this metallic-like flair and looks slightly thicker in comparison to the realme 12 series.
It is the first global gaming phone of the brand since the first realme GT and is set to compete with phones like the OnePlus 12, Xiaomi 14, and POCO F6 Pro. While touted as a flagship killer, its specs and price scream flagship more. However, that might have come from several factors, including customs policy, hardware used, and of course, marketing. realme spent a buttload for the marketing of this phone, even having its CEO interview in Forbes. The phone has a standard 6.78″ LTPO OLED screen, which contributes to its expensive pricing. It has a brightness of 6000nits, brighter than even your regular house bulbs and surely to blind you. This screen has 1.5K (2780x1240px) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Typical flagship display things.
It uses the same chipset as the base POCO F6. That is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. We’re waiting for a Pro variant to counter this since the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is still miles better in terms of raw performance. The 8s Gen 3 is basically a pumped-up Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 with better internals. Also, the phone comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
There are three cameras available. All of which are highly functional. There are two 50MP cameras present (versus only one with its Chinese sibling). Here, a Sony Lytia LYT-808 camera takes the cake, alongside a Samsung ISOCELL JN5 telephoto. There is also an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultrawide camera. At the front is a 32MP Sony IMX615, the usual stuff.
To finish it all off, the phone features a 5500mAh battery with 120W fast charging. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor and of course, 5G. AI is the name of the event and there are a few AI features which feels like a marketing trick that powers the realme GT6, including those that monitor your activities to better enhance usage and prolong battery life. Let’s not forget all the camera AI the phone has to offer.
It is available now at a currently discounted price of PHP 29,999. Alongside it are a FREE pair of realme Buds T300 for every purchase starting today until July 4. Claimants can get the phone on July 5. The phone is practically on all online stores like Lazada, TikTok, and Shopee.
In our opinion, that promo price should have been the retail price. If they went with 512GB storage and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, then yes, that PHP 34,999 is justified considering the brand still has to handle shipping, maintenance, marketing, and customs. Though some may say to get a grey market version, do note that these do not have official warranties so when something goes wrong, realme cannot help you. The high price might have come from the fact that this, unlike the POCO F6 Pro, has a telephoto camera and LTPO screen, as well as 120Hz refresh rate.
