The Samsung Galaxy A25 Has Launched in the Philippines with a Hefty Price Tag

Judging from its looks, it’s nothing special, but what really matters are its spec sheet.

Before 2023 closes, Samsung released just two new A-series phones to prepare for next year. These include the Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A25. We will discuss about the latter here.

If you look at it from the design standpoint, it’s not really much. You got your dewdrop notch, a very large chin, and a textured plastic back with its cameras separated. It’s the usual Samsung design that started since the second-generation A-series. Although the company did introduce a new design language called Key Island.

However, don’t judge the looks alone because the phone packs a punch! First of all, the phone packs a 6.5″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) 120Hz SAMOLED screen in which other phones of a similar price range do not get.

The cameras, especially the primary 50MP OIS camera, also are quite packed for a phone priced at PHP 15,990 (6/128). Unfortunately, that’s all there is to it because this camera is complemented by the usual 8MP Ultrawide and 2MP Macro. The selfie camera, a 13MP sensor, is housed on the notch. OIS is a feature that’s rarely seen on a sub-20K price tag and even then, only a few select phones have it.

Inside the phone is a 5nm Samsung Exynos 1280 chipset which is a mixed bag but we’re hoping Samsung actually did fix the problems it had, starting with its efficiency issues. The chipset is comparable to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 and the MediaTek Dimensity 920. The phone also questionably starts at a lower RAM/Storage option against the competition, sticking with 6/128 and 8/256, the latter is priced at PHP 16,990

Questionable chipset aside, you do get decent software upgrades, plus, unlike the Galaxy A24, 5G connectivity to boot. Samsung has made their smartphones upgradable to 4 major Android versions and patchable for up to 5 years security updates.

As always, there is a 5000mAh battery inside with 25W fast charging, a Samsung standard, even for their flagships. It charges via a USB-C port. Although it uses a SAMOLED screen, it integrates its fingerprint sensor inside the power button.

The Samsung Galaxy A25 comes in four colours: Blue Black, Blue, Light Blue, and Yellow. To reiterate, the phone starts at PHP 15,990 (6/128) and PHP 16,990 (8/256) respectively and is available for purchase at any Samsung Concept Store nationwide as well as authorized third-party outlets. You can get it as well online via Lazada or Samsung’s website.
