The Oppo Reno10 Series is Now Available Starting at PHP 23,999

No filler cameras, but there’s also a catch to that.

Yesterday, Oppo unveiled its latest Reno10 series via an event in The Manila Hotel. These three Reno10 Series phones are already released in other countries so now the Philippines will take its cake. We are fortunate enough to get a hold of the Reno10 Pro+ which we will discuss later.

Just like the previous Renos, Oppo boasts the phone’s camera capabilities on these, especially with its portrait mode. Hence why you will constantly see #ThePortraitExpert slapped on every CC’s posts on social media.

Aside from the three phones, there’s also the Enco Air3 Pro Earbuds that were released alongside. The Reno10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro+ are now available for pre-ordering via any Oppo Concept Store and Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok Shop.

OPPO Reno10

The Oppo Reno 10 is a premium midrange phone, with a complexly expensive price to match. The frames are made of aluminium and it features a colour-changing back, just like the picture above.

It features a curved 6.7″ FullHD+ (2412x1080px) 120Hz AMOLED display with a 93% screen-to-body ratio and HDR10+ support. There is also a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 (MediaTek Dimensity 1080) chipset inside. We find that choice a little odd considering its asking price of PHP 23,999 (8/256) especially since there are other phones that are better both in functionality and cameras, such as the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G. Not only that but the Reno10 uses a slower open-loop focus motor instead of the near instantaneous PDAF.

Inside is a 5000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The company did provide several battery maintenance features, such as the Battery Health Engine. No, the Reno10 does not have wireless charging. The phone gets an internal fingerprint sensor, USB-C port, stereo speakers, and dual Nano-SIM slot. Of course, it has 5G functionality.

Finally, there are your cameras. We saved this one for last since this is where Oppo spent its resources the most on these three. The primary camera is a 64MP sensor. The phone also has telephoto and ultrawide lenses. Specifically, the 32MP Sony IMX709 and an 8MP sensor respectively. At the front is the 32MP selfie camera.

Up next is the Reno10 Pro 5G. It’s essentially similar to the Reno 10 but with an updated camera setup. Now, the Primary camera is a 50MP Sony IMX890 flagship sensor like the 10 Pro+. The phone sits in the middle perfectly between the vanilla and the flagship-tier phone.

It comes with a similar 6.7″ curved AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Its chipset is now the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. No space to expand the storage but there is enough for virtual RAM, up to 8GB even. The phone is still pricey at PHP 29,990 since the Nothing Phone (1) provides a much smoother bloat-free experience and the Honor 90 uses a newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip for PHP 4K less. Not only that, it has double the storage.

The battery remained unchanged but it boasts a faster 80W charging, identical to the OnePlus Nord 3. It comes in Silvery Grey and Glossy Purple, like the 10 Pro+

Oppo Reno 10 Pro+

Finally, there is the star of the show, and the only phone of the three that truly justifies its price. The Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G is what we have in our possession and we’re thankful because we actually got a surprisingly decently-priced flagship on our hands. Aside from the Infinix Zero X series, where else can you find a telephoto camera, let alone a 64MP periscope, at PHP 39,990?

As a flagship, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Not the newest but still very competitive. It comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The Honor Magic5 Pro, for instance, costs PHP10K more and the Galaxy S23 Plus is nearly PHP20K more expensive and has slower charging and no periscope cameras. Its main threat is the Nothing Phone (2) because it is at a similar price range (PHP 38,990, 12/256) and provides a bloat-free software with guaranteed Android upgrades for up to 3 years. Though it lacks the camera prowess of the Reno 10 Pro+, its software makes up for it, plus those pretty lights.

The given 100W charging brick and cable

The phone has a smaller 4700mAh battery but it now carries an even faster 100W fast charging. Though as we have tested, 80W and 100W carry no significant differences in terms of charging speeds.

Of course it has a 6.7″ FullHD+ (2772x1240px) curved AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and an IR Blaster too! It’s a full package that makes the phone also utilitarian.

Now, the moment everyone has been waiting for, including us because we’re testing out that sweet MariSilicon X cameras which surprisingly isn’t that much discussed during the event but the NPU is quite significant in lifting noise and enhancing contrasts and dynamic range. On top is the 8MP ultrawide, the bottom is the primary 50MP Sony IMX890 camera, and at the bottom is the 64MP Omnivision OV64B Periscope camera with up to 120x zoom and OIS. The front features the same 32MP Sony IMX709 selfie camera as the Reno10 Pro. We took some shots during the event which was located inside The Manila Hotel. Here are some:

Stay tuned and we’ll test out the phone’s other renovating features soon!

Like the Reno10 Pro, the Pro+ comes in Silvery Grey and Glossy Purple colours.
