Honor unveils two new tablets in China: The Pad V8 and V8 Pro.

Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity Rebranded.

Honor launched two new tablets in China on two separate occasions. They are segmented on the midrange lineup and flaunt a premium design like many other tablets out there. These two tablets, unlike the internationally released Honor Pad 8 feature more powerful specs and a more expensive price tag.

HONOR Pad V8:

The Honor Pad V8 features an 11-inch 2.5K (2560x1700px) IPS LCD panel with 120Hz refresh rate. It uses a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset which is not exactly new as it is a rebranding of the Dimensity 1100 featuring the same architecture and cores. For RAM and storage, you have 8GB RAM and a choice between 128GB and 256GB ROM.

It has a quad-speaker system with DTS:X and Dolby Atmos and pen support. In addition, it has a magnetic connector for wireless keyboards and docks. These are, of course, sold separately.

Cameras are not the highest priority for any tablet and the Honor Pad V8 carries a 13MP primary + 2MP depth camera and a 5MP front camera for video calls.

It has a sufficiently sized 7250mAh battery with a surprisingly slow 22.5W charging. This is “fast charging” by international standards but for a battery this size, you’d expect more. It is charged via a USB-C port of course.

No, this tablet has no LTE connectivity. What you get are Wi-Fi 6/6e and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity only. The back has a vegan leather design and a Sunset Orange colour.

In China, it is priced at CNY 1799 (~PHP 14.3K) and CNY 1899 (~PHP 15.2K) for the 8/128 and 8/256 storage options respectively.

HONOR Pad V8 Pro

We were honestly thinking of writing a separate article for this tablet because this feels like an immense upgrade over the V8. However, it has been decided to merge the two articles into one since the two are of the same model, just with some other important features.

The display is larger, at 12.1 inches and features a faster 144Hz refresh rate. The resolution is still 2.5K however. Oh, by the way, this is no ordinary IPS display, this one is IMAX Certified so movies would feel very immersive and theatre-like, all in the comfort of your home, or anywhere really. It peaks at 600nits brightness

Inside of this tablet is the Dimensity 8100 which is NOT a rebrand. It is a slightly underclocked version of the flagship 4nm Dimensity 9000 so this makes the tablet a multi-tasking powerhouse.

The cameras are the same: a 13MP primary and a 5MP video call camera.

You also get your magnetic dock connector to connect wireless keyboards as well as pen support. The Magic Pencil 3 is available for separate purchase for CNY 549 (~PHP 4.4K). The battery here is also far larger, at 10,050mAh and features an even faster 35W USB-C charging.

Unlike the V8 which only has four speakers, this one has eight! That’s double than what the base tablet offers. It also is Hi-Res audio and Dolby Atmos certified. It runs a modified version of Android 12 with MagicOS 7 skin on top.

Orange, Sunny Blue, and Starry Blue are your colour options. In China, the tablet is priced at CNY 2599 (~PHP 20.7K) for the 8/128 option, CNY 2899 (~PHP 23.1K) for the 8/256 trim, and CNY 3299 (~PHP 26.3K) for the 12/256 trim.

Neither tablets have arrived in the international market scene so there’s no release date yet in the Philippines. We’ll update you once this happens.
