It has a pill-shaped front camera situated in the middle. Totally not inspired by someone at all.
About a few days ago, Xiaomi announced the global editions of their flagships with Leica cameras. A tradition to all of their flagship line, there should be a watered-down variant, usually, the “Lite” version of the flagship. Hence, the Xiaomi 13 Lite was born (or took an identity from the Xiaomi CIVI 2 in this case).
As the Xiaomi 13 Lite represents the global version of the designer phone, the CIVI 2, its spec sheet is similar if not identical. Like its Chinese brother, the 13 Lite features a curved 6.55″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. This screen is actually very similar to flagship screens in that it is a 12-bit display with HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, and 1000nits peak brightness. This screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 so it should withstand some scratches.
Unlike the flagships, this phone features a plastic frame (although the back uses glass material) and only has IP53 water/dust resistance. An IP rating commonly seen on midrange phones.
This phone uses the Samsung-fabricated Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. This is a 4nm chipset that is the successor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G which offers 20% better GPU performance efficiency. Xiaomi opted to go for 8/128 and 8/256 storage options.
The triple camera setup at the back meanwhile takes its design from its predecessor, the 12 Lite, albeit slightly altered. The primary camera is the famous 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor which means it has OIS. The other two include the 8MP ultrawide and (ughhh) the 2MP macro camera. This is a midrange phone after all.
Unlike the CIVI 2 which came with a dual 32MP front camera, the 13 Lite downgrades it to a 32MP primary + 8MP depth sensor. This resolution makes more sense as the depth sensor could clearly identify better the background because it could recognize more details than regular 2MP depth cameras. The 13 Lite is built for selfies and the front camera has a 100° FOV and will automatically adjust when taking group selfies.
It has a 4500mAh battery, the same one as the flagship 13. This is charged via a 67W USB-C port. This was carried over the 12 Lite, albeit that one has 200mAh lesser battery capacity. Don’t expect wireless charging though.
The phone has solid speakers theoretically because it is tuned by Dolby Atmos which provides clearer vocals and a louder, crispier sound. It also has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 5G connectivity, and NFC. Though NFC depends on the region. Some phones in the Philippines already have this enabled by default. It also has a dual SIM Card slot.
The phone comes in three colours: Lite Pink (not Rose Gold), Lite Blue, and Lite Black. Price starts at EUR 499 (~Php 29.5K) and availability is on 8th March. Availability in the Philippines is yet to be announced.
