On December 18th, Infinix will release their “flagudget” Zero 5G 2023

And how are we supposed to read that?

Infinix’s first 5G phone, the Zero 5G was a success thanks to its aggressive pricing. This warranted a sequel, not the Zero Two but rather the Zero 5G 2023 because we can’t think of a more creative name. And before you say it, the phone does look like the Oppo Find X5, with matching colours too.

So what is this “flagudget” (probably read: fla-gu-jet, and is a mix between “Flagship” and “Budget”) phone Infinix is so proud about? Well, the phone comes with a tall and squarish frame, featuring a 6.78in. FullHD+ (2400x1080px) IPS LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Bummer that they didn’t opt for an AMOLED but the refresh rate is faster now (120Hz vs 90Hz).

Four cameras, including a 16MP front cam, can be found here. The rear camera island is unchanged. The main camera is still a 50MP shooter but we’re disappointed to see that Infinix switched the 13MP telephoto to a useless 2MP + 2MP setup, which barely has a use

The main highlight here is the choice of chipset. It is one of the first phones to be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, an upgrade over the Dimensity 900 of last time. This is paired with 8GB RAM with 256GB ROM. RAM is expandable by 5GB by temporarily taking space from the ROM.

Battery and charging remain the same, a 5000mAh capacity battery with 33W fast charging. In terms of ports, you got your single speaker (with DTS enhancement), a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm jack. You also get a Dual SIM Card slot. The company didn’t say whether it is expandable through an SD Card.

The phone will be released in the Philippines on December 18th and will be on sale, so it is also a good phone to look out for during the holiday seasons. We got prices (hint hint: very affordable) but we’re not allowed to tell that yet. If you have seen the Lazada listing, it was previously listed at Php 11,999.
