The Xiaomi 12T series is now available for purchase in the Philippines!

If you want large pictures with oversharpened details and large file sizes, then yes, this is for you.

Xiaomi’s T series of phones are supposedly more “general purpose” versions of their flagships, but at the same time, they have their own personality and target market. Just like POCO’s F series, the T series can be considered a flagship killer with a higher emphasis on flagship-grade cameras and displays at affordable prices. Something Realme wishes it could do (no, the Realme 9 Pro+ does not count).

We have covered the two phones before, and, just like the 11T series, both the vanilla and the “Pro” (notice the loose emphasis) versions have little differences,. Also, like its predecessor, it features a design that mimics that of a camera, something Xiaomi wants them to be good at.

Flagship at its heart, the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro feature a high-end 120Hz AMOLED with Dolby Vision and 12-bit colour depth, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. This screen is also the home of the 20MP camera both phones use.

Both phones use the same chipset this time, unlike the 11T series which used both a Dimensity and Snapdragon chipset at the same time. Here, it’s the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 paired with 8 or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and either 128 or 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. This is not expandable by the way.

The main reason why this phone exists is to ensure that someone actually uses Samsung cameras on a higher budget. Here, it’s the custom-built 200MP ISOCELL HPX for the Pro and a 108MP camera with OIS for the regular phone. Both use a 20MP selfie camera located conveniently on the punch-hole.

The differences between the 108MP and 200MP may be marginal to non-techies, but the photo’s potential size could interfere with the overall quality especially when posting it on social media like Facebook which heavily compresses images and videos.

Another great feature these phones have is their battery. Sure it’s the typical 5000mAh but this one charges in a flash as it uses a 120W charging port where, if you lose the cable, brick, or both, then good luck to you. Proprietary chargers take a while to find and can be expensive.

The speakers are tuned by Harman-Kardon to improve the bass, mids, and highs of every note. Now, you could hear your masterpiece on the loudspeakers without feeling embarrassed, maybe. If you like being loud at your next party, then you’re in luck, the 12T series with its OIS feature, is going to be memorable. Not only is it hard tuned but is supported by Dolby Atmos, so the sound experience is going to be a comfortable one

Inside, both phones use an in-display fingerprint scanner, 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and Dual-band Wi-Fi. The phones appear to not have any IR blaster but neither did the 9T where the series first started. Both phones run Android 12 with MIUI 13 skin on top.

We already have the prices for both of these phones, and believe us, the 12T is priced similarly to a MIDRANGER rather than a flagship. So that’s already a plus.
