The University of the Philippines (UP) has recently announced that the institution will launch a channel on Cignal TV upon signing a memorandum with the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Galang as well as Chief Finance Officer John Andal at the Diliman campus.

“Our friends from Cignal TV recognize the value of our work and our goal to extend services to as many as possible, whether these are students looking to enrich their lessons or ordinary citizens who want to gain more knowledge and develop skills,” UP President Danilo Concepcion said. “What we have now is the perfect opportunity to nurture lifelong learning in our people,” he added.

The channel, TVUP, will feature several UP-produced programs and will be on air in more than four million homes via Cignal’s satellite direct-to-home service. Cignal said that this new channel will offer ways for students to learn while on distance learning mode as well as to expand their subscriber base. Moreover, TVUP Executive Director Grace Alfonso also noted that this will give the university the opportunity to further spread their productions nationwide, many of which are available online.
