Meta (Facebook) brings Instagram Reels to Facebook. Essentially similar to TikTok and YouTube Shorts

If you wanna stay in the competition, you gotta copy and adapt. That’s just how it works.

Previously, the Reels feature, a carbon copy of TikTok and Vine, has been made exclusive to Instagram. However, Meta has recently announced that they are bringing this feature to Facebook, with the intention of helping content creators make money through this short-form video platform.

The Facebook version has features that were adapted from the Instagram version, plus new features such as more flexible advertising alternatives, remixes, and the ability to share the Reels through Stories. Facebook Reels would be available in over 150 countries, including the Philippines.

The Reels Play Bonus program, a $1 billion creator investment, pays creators up to USD 35,000 (~Php 1.8 Million) for their reels depending on the reel’s view count and qualification. Creators can earn money in different ways, such as in-stream ads and Stars. Facebook is also bringing direct monetization for Reels. Currently, overlay ads are being tested in the USA, Canada, and Mexico and soon in other parts of the world.

Each Reel can only be 60 seconds long like the Instagram variant (in comparison, YouTube Shorts has the same required duration while TikTok can go as long as 3 minutes). You can also edit your reels before sharing them as well as select privacy options. If you feel like you are not ready to share the reel to the world, you can save it as a draft and finish it for later.

In addition to these new features, Meta is also adding ways to make them easily discoverable
