Dun dun dun dun dun… dun dun dun dun dun
Ahh Battlefield, the classic FPS game that has rivalled Call of Duty since inception. DICE has created the first game in the series, Battlefield 1942, back in 2002, to an overwhelming success. So much success that they had enough money to sell their soul to the American Devil.
Many of you probably play CoD Mobile. If not, there’s a 90% chance you’re lying (or not, you don’t legitimately play the game). The game is very popular for the SEA market and has made a whopping $1 billion in revenue this year. And since it’s popular, of course, EA wanted a piece of that market share and saw the opportunity to sell more lootboxes to clueless children make the Battlefield franchise more accessible and more popular for everyone.
The dating app’s game’s beta is slated for release this fall, or around the third week of September. To start, EA has been planning to release a “series of playtests” involving players from Indonesia and the Philippines. There has been no word for US testing yet but we can speculate that this game is going to be more popular here in Southeast Asia than in the United States or the North American region, all thanks to the upcoming Battlefield 2042 that is coming to PC and consoles worldwide.
The beta test will feature a single map called “Grand Bazaar” and the franchise’s signature mode: Conquest Mode! EA has stated that they will reveal more information and more content leading up to its 2022 release. Oh yeah, the main reason this game was made: make it a free-to-play game so that they can charge you for “cosmetics” (and we mean that very loosely) as well as battle passes. As the title suggests, it’s not going to be ported for consoles or PC. As mentioned before, you already have Battlefield 2042 for that.
Eligible devices from Indonesia and the Philippines can pre-register through Google Play and start playing the new rival for Call of Duty: Mobile. Although, there’s no stated playtests yet for iOS and your phone must have at least Android 7.0 Nougat to play.
Although, we’re still wondering, what would the theme song sound like? We hope it retains the classic dun dun dun theme song of the franchise, like the one on Battlefield 4
