Oh no, where will they post their paid sexual content now? *Points at Twitter and Pornhub*
OnlyFans is a type of site meant to compete against the likes of Patreon, but when users found out that you can get paid for explicit content, it became an entirely new site focusing on paid adult work or sex work which the site quickly became known for.
The company said it will ban adult content due to “pressure from its payment processors”. This announcement will sharply decline the popularity of OnlyFans and the website will fall into obscurity.
Though this doesn’t mean the site won’t allow nudity. The company will still allow nudity but any content seen as sexually suggestive will be outright banned. This new policy will take effect this October.
In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines” a spokesperson said.
With this new update guidelines, it is unknown what lies ahead of the subscription-based website. We predict that the number of users will rapidly decline and will just become another social media site. This outright banning of porn is similar to the fall of Tumblr, a social media website that became PG and family friendly after it limited adult content on the platform.
