The Honor X9c is revered for its durability and significant improvements over the X9b. Previously, only the display was touted as tough but Honor went up the stakes and improved its durability even more with the next iteration. As an added bonus, the 108MP camera is now even better and uses a newer sensor with OIS, all at a similarly efficient price.
And the numbers do not lie either. As per UnboxPH, the X9c sold out well within three days the moment it launched, despite a number of criticisms of it online questioning its supposed “durability”. This probably inspired Honor Philippines to release an online-only phone with the same level of toughness at an even cheaper price.
Thus enter the Honor X9c Smart. A phone that’s basically an “Honor X9c Lite”, keeping its iconic premium-class design, 108MP camera, and most importantly, its perceived toughness. To keep prices low, you can only find the phone online and there are some things changed over the X9c.
The most notable change was the display. It was downgraded to a TFT LCD, retaining a 120Hz refresh rate from the X9c. TFT is considered lower quality than IPS LCD but is more power efficient. Also, TFT LCDs have worse colour reproduction and viewing angles than IPS ones. The circular camera bump remains, though now it resembles the X9b more, its predecessor. The 16MP selfie was kept as well. No changes here. The 108MP used here originates from the X9b, which means no OIS.
The chipset was replaced with a cheaper but still very efficient MediaTek Dimensity 7025, from the X9c’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. The 7025 is designed with performance in mind. In real life, its performance is similar to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. It comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
The phone has a 5800mAh battery and 35W fast charging, which is lower than the X9c’s 66W. It has a USB-C 2.0 port to charge and transfer data with, alongside a bottom-firing speaker and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
It comes in Midnight Black, a signature Honor colour, and Ocean Cyan. It is exclusive for Shopee users, as mentioned earlier. Currently, it is valued at PHP 13,999 and with a voucher, you can get it for PHP 12,990.
